Nothing will record using Vista I'm hoping that someone who had a similar problem who discovered the fix or was pointed there by a friend can pass on the info here besides record pad not working wavepad supermp3 recorder audacity and even the onboard vista recorder won't record I've looked throughout the control panel the best I could and I can't figure out what is switched off SOMEbody must know, I just hope they see this obviously, this is a Vista issue, but the fix could help any nch customer with vista and recording problems

and they don't keep older versions either there was an earlier version of wavepad I liked and I contacted them to see if I could get it, and maybe a discount since it was older but they don't keep them for the customers I'll bet the software engineers have them for comparisons but their system is not setup to accomodate the public I might have an older one of record pad buried somewhere, but don't hold your breath, it'll be at least a cpl days before I'll be able to rummage thru my mess

"" if I let the program use the default track spacing, though, everything works fine."" seems like you solved it...kinda my express burn has expired, so I can't look at it real quick to see the folder it uses but you may want to NAME your own working folder, in wavepad, assuming you have it, and if you don't then that's the best I can come up with. the reason for renaming the working folder is, I was getting weird anomalies from wavepad and I couldn't figure out what was happeneing. I deleted wavepad and reinstalled it, but nothing changed it wasn't until I saw a tip that said to rename the working folder and I tried that, did the weirdness stop so, may THAT is what's messing yours up too! If you are using wavepad to edit, and then obviously express burn copies from the same file as well I figure, it's like chicken soup, it won't hurt you to try it. under; file wavepad options; audio processing; audio working folder; clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D: goodluck

try to find your original wavpad install file where you had the option do you recall what number that was? I contacted them, and they don't even save any of the old versions....ugggghhhhh these folks don't think like us. if you find your old version, try to make it available, I'm sure there are others who prefer options to their recordings

try the cia I'd love to see something mainstream that did that I think that most of that is quite secret...off the beaten path or at least at a sound engineers forum, not likely you'll find anything here....

I record talk shows and I found thar using the automatic gain and the compression effects work pretty well if the volume is still too low, I'll amp it up slowly...like@111% But if there is still other noise on there, I rely on other software to help with that

don't khold your breath waiting for an answer. and I never usae auto trim, I just do it by hand...less mistakes p.s. if you haven't done so, change your working folder location..or rename it to a different partition under; file wavepad options; audio processing; audio working folder; clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D: I only say do that because it's possible that the cause of the anomalie, is a corrupted default folder mine was, I did as shown above, and now all is well. goodluck

other than UNDO or finding the original file your only option may be to change the pitch effects speed and pitch change try 50% and go up or down from there 50% means it'll play at half speed I found that this happened to my files too! you may have an original DEFAULT folder that is corrupted under; file wavepad options; audio processing; audio working folder; clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D: [ D:WavePad-working folder ] once I created my own named folder under a different partition, my anomalies disappeared !!! goodluck

what are the requirements for the file in flash? there may be something in the header bar that is confusing flash! try opening the file in notepad or wordpad...be patient, it may take a while to open then look for clues at the top section that may be throwing off flash when you scroll down [ after it opens in notepad ] you'll see the body of the wav file is just special character gibberish, hence my comment to look for clues in the top section. don't change ANYTHING in the lower section, that's the music/audio in code good luck

I wouldn't trust software to completely hold up. I've had too many screw up to trust the software completely, especially using vista, which I despise... you may need a portable recorder that has a usb connector to then share files with others if necessary goodluck

sorry, I didn't answer the question yes, wavepad works on vista, I'm using it as we speak!!! just be sure to name your own working folder under; file wavepad options; audio processing; audio working folder; clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D: as for recording nothing I've tried, will record on vista, even the on board recorder that comes with the home premium!!! I've dug pretty deep to find out why not, and I still don't know the controls are different here than on XP and it's frustrating

I dunno, probably just marketing.

I never tried auto trim I've done it by hand, I magnify the lower section, looking for dead air or advertisements and clik along the top section , from left to right advancing the lower area just enough to see all I need...deleting dead air and or advertisements along the way...

It is also caller a HEADER, and a text editor may be able to delete it as well like notepad or wordpad. the only thing I don't know is, what they look like when opened up and, can the offending data be easily identified? I ask, because, everyone has their own special code, and that special code is what will screw up software like NERO, and tell you, that your 50mb is now 1100mb. I need to look further into this and see if someone has compiled a list of offending HEADER BAR info that can be referred to. I haven't opened up an audio file with notepad, but I was told about this from a guy who works at DENON and he told me about the header bar and to use a text editor to fix problems that each company puts in their product. the only thing I noticed was, the corruption of the default "working" file location for wavepad once I re-named the file and location, my problems disappeared if any new weirdness starts creeping in, I'll rename the working folder again under; file wavepad options; audio processing; audio working folder; clik that button, then name your own folder and partition C: or D: hope that helps...

I'm wondering, having never tried it myself if one could simply CUT the channel you don't want affected process [ amplify ] the channel you do then paste in the channel you cut!?!?!?! [ wave pad is all about TMP files ] bloody hell !!!! that might work!!!!!

regularkid; It has to be the same for mac as for pc just hitting the SAVE button is not the way to go clik file save file as clik on "save as type" the menu will drop down then choose now clik of "file name" that menu will drop down choose a different name or add a letter or number to the end and then save you'll now have the original and the newly created one hope that does it

I never tried that, and I don't know. you got the possible solution right in fron of you since you do have something, see if wave pad will open it then you'll know!!! if it does open it, be sure to clik file save as choose file type...mp3 or whatever then pick another file name that way, you'll have 2 files in case you need the original to play with again

perhaps it's a hint, that you'd be better off at the beach, than screwing with this!!!! You may want to try, naming your "working folder, as opposed to using the default folder. I was getting, DIFFERENT AUDIO, after doing an operation!!!!!!!!!!!
