  1. Hello everybody! As you probably experienced before me, DreamPlan's features are heavily limited in its free version (contrary to what its marketing conveys and even states) so, like anyone else, I could not test the program properly without buying a license key. «NCH Software offers a no-nonsense 30-day money back policy», so fair enough… (actually pretty good, right!?) …I bought my license. - Only to quickly find out that the program's advanced tools are inaccessible (!) on my still supported computer; a huge bug (at least for me) I reported a week ago in this topic. I must also mention that I haven't received any answer whatsoever as to: - another issue I reported directly to tech support six days ago: the fact I cannot login to this forum via the Safari browser either on my Mac not on the latest iOS (I can via Google Chrome but it's a crippling memory hog I avoid if possible); and - how to attach screenshots in here. Anyways… Five days ago I did get an answer about my main problem (hurraaah!) No… Not hurrah. Because it was so lousy in every aspect, it looked like a prank! - But it wasn’t. It was a real tech support response to a customer who could not fully use a product he’d paid for days ago because it was seriously faulty. It was rightfully outrageous. Since I (we?) cannot attach screenshots, I'm pasting that email below (and here's the shot for the doubters) for everyone to see what I mean, and to maybe get some manager in NCH feel ashamed enough to do something and straighten up their act - for dignity, their customers' good, and their company's. Now… What on Earth do you do with such unpresentable rubbish of a "support" email !? I know… You're probably thinking it's not that bad. All of us are too used to receiving and accepting similar emails from "serious" organisations day in, day out (some people even send them out themselves!) - but we should never send out, nor receive, nor accept shitty time-wasting emails like that! So… After regaining my cool, and pondering what to do, here is what I replied - screenshot and copy-pasted: Harsh? - Of course! For their own good. And for everyone - specially at NCH - to further grasp how crappy and utterly unacceptable (for me, anyway) that tech support response was, in comparison to what can be delivered and we all should expect and demand as customers (or clients or citizens), just compare it with the little exchange I had the day before with no other than… the customer service of the NCH's competitor I'm taking my money to! (I'm not revealing who they are. I've carefully redacted the screenshot so they are not identifiable, out of respect for NCH in its own forum, okay?) Please have a look. Read it? Have you noticed any difference, in form and substance, between both responses? About one hundred!? - Me too… In fact, there's not a single detail in that competitor's response that doesn't scream We care, and We excel. As opposed to…… You already know… To remain fair, early on Monday I received a response to my "angry farewell," this time from the competent representative, EIB. Had it been their first reply, I would not be writing this (which is something!) for it was acceptable enough to not trigger me. To be specific, it was just as lousy in its form (the almost two thirds in German come by default, it seems!), but acceptable in substance: a polite invitation to follow a troubleshooting procedure to get for them the log files necessary to «create a bug report so the developers can look into it for further diagnosis and fixes.» Assuming my problem with DreamPlan was due to some rare bug, that is the best help I could have expected, and I do appreciate that. But let's evaluate… Pros: - Get to enjoy DreamPlan's wonderful features some day Cons: - Way too time-consuming - Far from a prompt solution - Not even guaranteed! Determining factors: - Have not even started using the software - Already lost my trust in NCH! So, sorry but no… I'm still switching to the competition. …Yet not without hoping and trying with this crazy rant that you guys at NCH take it as a tough-love lesson (from a single nobody, no big deal! I know; but still!) and just RAISE YOUR DAMN QUALITY STANDARDS - A LOT! No doubt your remaining and future customers will notice the difference. And so should your business! My apologies for stealing too much of your time, dear reader! Chime in! and something good might come out of it all…
  2. Hi, been using WavePad for at least 6 months now and have had little to no issue. I even bought the pro version. However, just this morning I have been having an issue where the app turns whatever file I add into a muddy mess. the strangest part is that the file I save after using the app sounds better too. It seems just to be a bug with the app itself. And before you ask, yes I uninstalled/re-installed the app and the problem persists. Someone please help!!
  3. I am using Debut to transfer home videos to my computer, with a Honestech device to connect the VCR to my computer. I have chosen to use Debut rather than the Honestech software that came with the device, as it is quite dated. A 2-hour video converts to an almost 8 GB mp4 file. This seems excessive to me, and as I have many to convert, I would like to ensure that I am using the optimum configuration. Would someone please direct me to the best file type and settings? Thank you.
  4. Hi, This is Kevin from TrenDigi Tech. I've purchased one key for Broadwave and it is streaming live for about 3 days in a roll now. During the testing period before it actually goes to public, we've found a issue. When we first started the streaming server 3 days ago (set quality to 256kbps), we were able to hear clear sound quality on both mobile device (Android and iOS default browser were both fine), MacBook, and Windows 7 laptop. The streaming server has not been stop or restart, and the issue pops in on the 3rd day for no reason. The issue is that you are no longer able to hear clear sound quality "ON MOBILE DEVICE (Android and iOS)", the sound is with lots of noises and echo. BUT, at the same time it will not happen with MacBook and Windows laptop. What is the cause of this problem? Thanks, Kev
  5. I've tried multiple times to capture my screen for upload to YouTube. It always works, but the quality is crap. Can someone give me the recommended settings or tell me what I am doing wrong? This is my latest attempt to screen capture and upload.
  6. Trying out the software before i buy it. I've been using it to split up some long apple lossless files into individual song files. I've noticed that any ID tag information i enter is not recognized by either windows or iTunes. That a known issue or am i doing something wrong. Using Wavepad on a Windows 7 PC. Update: just checked - when I reopen the file in Wavepad the infomation is not there either?? Also just a general question - is there any difference in the resultant sound quality between the free version and the licensed version? Thanks! Mike
  7. I currently use Open Broadcaster to record my screen for video projects. I have considered using the program available from NCH that allows screen recording but I really just want to figure out this one problem before moving on. When I record in OBS, save the file and open it in VideoPad for editing, the video suffers severe quality loss. I have researched this in the past and only one solution has worked so far considering all of the related topics I've found are two or more years old and so not up-to-date on the current version of VideoPad. The answer I found informed me that exporting as a Video File or to YouTube, I'd merely have to change the setting to YouTube 720 and something else; and though, the quality was considerably less fuzzy for the finalized project than during the editing process, it still was not the original quality I had after I recorded with OBS. I've tried uploading a short video (exactly 3 minutes) with YouTube 1080 and that took a very long time. Hours had gone by after upload that YouTube still was processing the video. I uploaded the same video with YouTube 720 and it worked perfectly. I'm wondering if there are settings that I can change in OBS to make the video file resolution better when I open it in VideoPad but I'm sure VideoPad is the source of the problem. How can I get the best quality with my screen recorded video? Much, Much Appreciated...
  8. Hi! I've installed ViedoPad 4.11. In options under media there is "Show video quality and stabilization settings dialog when converting and stabilizing video files". I have this setting checked, but when I stabilize clip using video effects -> stabilize or by right clicking and choosing stabilize it just starts working. No dialog appears. Am I doing something wrong? I would like to be able to choose the output format of stabilized video. Thanks
  9. I'm currently evaluating VideoPad and specifically will be using the stabilize function. So far I'm impressed... but having tested other filters and then managed to save a video clip with a low compression/high quality setting I realised that when the stabilize function is complete and the stabilized video is saved it uses a higher compression setting and the video is noticeably smaller than the original. Doing a compare between the original and the stabilized version I can see where the stabilization has kicked in but I can also see a slight but definite loss in quality overall. It might be that this is a side effect of the stabilize but a ~25% reduction in the file size would imply that some/most of it is probably due to a higher compression level. The shake in the video is only slight so I also wouldn't expect to be losing too much off the edges as a result of the stabilize. I'm currently using the free version of v4.10. Is the paid for version different to the free version in this respect? Is there some other way to set a preference or an option for the compression/quality setting when saving the stabilized video? If I import a video into VideoPad, export it, import the exported video back into VideoPad and then export it again, will the final video have less quality (or be lesser in anyway) to if I only exported it once? Thanks (In case I need to clarify why I would do this - if I have a separate video and audio file, I'd use the first export to group them together, meaning I could then edit it without having to worry about accidentally unsynicing my files)
