Still processing sound....Endless. Please help to solve

Hi

We've bought this video edit software and it was ok to work within it. I managed to edit several videos. But now uploading my video message appears "still processing the sound...." and while it processing I can't do anything. Seems it is a bug as I found the same topics in this forum 2 and 3 years ago. And one of solutions was advised to upgrade the program version. But we have newest version and it's strange NCH wasn't be able to fix this bug for so  long. So I assume the version isn't the case.

My video is very short. About 5 min only. So there's nothing to process :)

Can you help me please. Appreciate.

VideoPad version 13.09. I'm not professional. I know just cut, copy, insert functions :)

Thanks a lot in advance.

Well, sometimes old problems can reoccur 😉 . So I highly recommend downloading the newest version (if you just purchased Videopad, it's free for you anyway), because v13.09 had an issue with the cache, which might be the reason for your problem.

After updating, also try this:

1. Clear the cache: see screenshot

2. Go to the options -> Media -> Uncheck all "Automaticall normalize..." checkboxes.

After that: Close & restart videopad and reload your project. Is there a difference?

Take Dangerfreak's advice and install the latest version.

If that doesn't solve the issue, close the program, then right-click on the launch file and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

If this takes care of the problem, again right-click the file and click PROPERTIES | COMPATIBILITY tab.  Check the box... 1.jpg

Hi Dangerfreak and Borate,

Thanks a lot for your advice. I did it as you said. I don't have endless sound processing issue but I have another problem now. The video is very slow. When I try to play video it plays for 1 sec and freezes and I need to wait 1 min it plays again for 1 second. As I see in soft on the left side there is progress Processing and I see % in brackets. And the number changes very slowly 4%, 5%, 6%. I assume I need to wait 3-4 hours for my video to be fully processed. But this video is small - only 3gb (8min). And with previous the same videos, I had no such problem. I mean this soft is unusable right now.

Borate, I couldn't understand this one "again right-click the file and click PROPERTIES | COMPATIBILITY tab" Which one file?  This is the only one thing I didn't do from your both recommendations.

Appreciate any help and advice :) Thanks in advance.

If it is slow, try changing the GPU Video Processor: see screenshot

"None (CPU only)" is slowest (but reliable!), the other option(s) is your graphic card, which sure is faster.

Note: If the exported video is corrupt with this setting (may happen for old graphic cards), change back to "None" before exporting.

If it is still too slow, try "proxy editing" (see here).

Apparently export was successful after right-clicking the VP launch file/Run As Administrator.

If you want to make that choice permanent, so it doesn't have to be chosen manually each time, right-click the launch file again, click on the PROPERTIES item, then the COMPATIBILITY tab and check the Run As Administrator box.

As for slow processing in preview mode (not export), did you install the latest 64-bit release?  You definitely should not be waiting 3-4 hours.

When files are loaded into the bin (top-left) they may show a % value.  Let that complete.  Then add the clips to the timeline for editing.

If a "processing" message appears in the preview window or playback is jerky, it may take a few minutes before clips fully cache.  After making changes to those in the timeline, such as adding a clip, effect or a transition, there can be a brief pause prior to smooth playback.

The best way to analyze a project is to share it here (or in private).  Take a few minutes to follow these four steps and someone will take a look...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

AND always remember to do this...  Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.

Hi friends,

thanks a lot for your proactive and high-speed approach. I didn't have time to try your last advice. But I can live with the existing upload/processing speed. It's ok to wait for 20-40 min and video is uploaded. I think PRO users with bigger video sizes could be really unhappy with processing speed but for my level is totally ok.

Thanks again.

Hey @Marija V

Please keep in mind that these steps are general recommendations and may vary depending on the specific situation and computer setup. Here's what you can try:

  1. Close unnecessary programs: Make sure you don't have too many programs running simultaneously, as they can consume system resources. Close any unused applications running in the background.

  2. Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary performance issues by clearing out system resources and closing any problematic processes.

  3. Update the program: Ensure that the program you're experiencing slowness with is up to date. Check the developer's website or the program's settings for any available updates and install them if necessary. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.

  4. Check system requirements: Verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running the program. If your hardware falls below the recommended specifications, the program may run slower or not function optimally.

  5. Free up disk space: Insufficient disk space can impact your computer's performance. Delete unnecessary files, such as temporary files, old documents, and unused applications. You can also use disk cleanup tools or utilities to automate this process.

  6. Scan for malware: Malware infections can significantly slow down your computer. Run a full system scan using reputable antivirus or anti-malware software to detect and remove any potential threats.

  7. Update device drivers: Outdated or incompatible device drivers can cause performance issues. Visit the manufacturer's website for your computer and peripherals (graphics card, sound card, etc.) and download the latest drivers available.

  8. Adjust visual effects: Windows operating systems provide various visual effects that can consume system resources. You can optimize performance by adjusting these settings. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer," go to "Properties," click on "Advanced system settings," select the "Settings" button under the "Performance" section, and choose "Adjust for best performance" or manually disable specific effects.

  9. Increase virtual memory (Windows): If your computer has limited physical RAM, increasing the virtual memory (page file) size can improve performance. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer," go to "Properties," select "Advanced system settings," click on the "Settings" button under the "Performance" section, navigate to the "Advanced" tab, and click on "Change" in the "Virtual memory" section.

  10. Upgrade hardware: If the above steps don't provide satisfactory results, you may consider upgrading your computer's hardware components, such as adding more RAM, replacing the hard drive with a solid-state drive (SSD), or upgrading the graphics card.

Hi Borate,

I have trouble with the program again. I spent a lot of time and I'm very disappointed in this program. But maybe you can help me again. Appreciate a lot.

I managed to upload normally only 2 videos (7-8 min each). I have other problems with other videos. So, I could edit only 2 videos after your help. I'll describe the new issue.

I upload video 11. ka-noteikt-vai-google-reklama-strada-efektivi Everything is ok till approx 25th seconds when the video goes on but the sound disappears.

I upload video  10. vai-javeic-offsite-seo-pirms-pabeigts-onsite-seo Everything is ok till approx 4:02 min. Then the video freezes and the sound goes on.

I can't understand what is wrong with this program and why such bugs still are in the newest versions. Appreciate Borate for your help.

Here's the folder for these two videos https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11WyRiHwarhh0NRUGpmdOV_iGpXoQqEG7

The clips took about a minute or so to cache before audio was available, owing to their length.

But then both played flawlessly from start to finish, using this VP release.

What are your PC's specs:  CPU/GPU/RAM?  If you don't have another machine to test, try this...

Open OPTIONS | ADVANCED tab.  In the bottom GPU Processor area click the caret and choose another GPU, if one is shown, or try None (CPU Only).

Let us know.

Thanks Borate for your reply. Very appreciate. As I understood you can upload and edit my video. It's very strange that I can't :(. Possibly it could be my CPU/GPU/RAM fault but I have uploaded and edited several videos already. So I don't think the issue is with my PC.

Here's my PC data
CPU 1.80 Ghz, 1.99 Ghz
RAM 16GB
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

I don't think there're problems with my laptop

I downloaded the VP version you mentioned and the situation changed. After uploading the video I see processing (xx%) again. I think this is good news and the previous time when you solved this problem I started to see processing status and after processing finished it was possible to edit the video. I don't have an explanation why this processing status disappeared after I edited 2 video. Just simply I faced the issues I mentioned in the previous message.

I see processing status now but the problem is that processing takes really lot of time. I have 16% and it took about 20 min. Something wrong. It shouldn't be so long. In options --> Advanced --> GPU I left None (CPU only) as this option was previous times when I managed upload and edit.

Thanks a lot for help.

Starting clean, the 12:41 file took 2:12 to cache, as the % incremented in the bin clip.  Once cached, reload will be very quick, as long as cache hasn't been emptied.

With GPU set to Default, which is a GTX 1060 card here, and 1920x1080 resolution, export via the image.png toolbar button took thirty-seconds.

Via image.png it completed in :60. Lossless export is available only under certain conditions.

Using GPU in the Advanced option settings is faster than None (CPU only).

Something is definitely not kosher there.  To eliminate the possibility of corrupted files, close Videopad.  Then try a total uninstall with this free tool.  When prompted for deleting registry entries, select them all and delete.  Then install the latest VP 64-bit release.

Before staring a brand new project it's wise to Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab.

Hi Borate,

thanks a lot for your help. Appreciate a lot. After your comments, I could edit without problems only 2 videos. Later I wish to edit the other 2 videos and have the same issue. No sound. I did nothing in the soft but in one day I could edit and after several days I have the same problems. This soft drives me crazy :(

I recorded loom video comment in order it's easier to show my problem. Hope this helps and hope you can help me.

Very peculiar indeed.  Did you use the REVO uninstaller to delete all files, then install the latest?

Does this occur with the clip alone - no editing - as linked above.  Or does the problem surface after adding transitions, effects, fades, etc.?

If only the clip, please upload your third video - the one where sound stops.

If it happens after editing, please share the full project, as instructed above.  Someone will check it out.

Thanks a lot, Borate for your reply.

No, I didn't use REVO as I think the issue is somewhere else in another place. As I managed to edit two videos and can't do the same with other videos.

But OK. I can try to use REVO and install soft again. Maybe it helps.

I added this video in the folder https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11WyRiHwarhh0NRUGpmdOV_iGpXoQqEG7

video file name: 14. Kapec-jaizmanto-negativie-atslegvardi-google-reklama

I uploaded the video clip to the soft as non-edited video

I've got one idea - after I downloaded the new soft version I didn't register it. I thought maybe I need to register. I did it yesterday. But still the same problem (loom video). How can I check if my soft is registered? Maybe there is a problem. Maybe soft "think" I use free version?

p.s. I watched my loom and realized that I don't show you the soft but only my Chrome. Omg. Sorry. I thought I share all windows on my screen. But the bottom line - the uploaded video is 10 min long and the sound ends somewhere after 1st min.

Registration status should make no difference.  Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab prior to starting a new project.

Given a minute or so to fully cache, this file, like the others, played fine in the current VP release (13.45+).

Test this slightly older version.  Ignore any virus warnings.  And try the REVO suggestion.

Do you have another PC available for a comparison?

Hi Borate,

once again thanks a lot for your help. It helps :)

I took two actions and it seems both solved my problem.

1. I tried another laptop. Installed soft and sound appeared. Still video processing was too long in my opinion (about 20-30 min for 10 min video) but this is not a problem for me. It was important that sound problem was solved

2. I cleared the cash in the existing laptop. It also helped. The processing also was too long but in the end, the sound appeared and everything was perfect. I can edit my videos.

I hope I solve the sound issue forever and will not bother you anymore :)

Thanks a lot, Borate again and have a nice day.

  • 1 month later...

Don't recall ever seeing a report of sound vanishing mid-project;  it's either there or it isn't.

Confirm whether the problem is with both PCs?  The laptop is AMD;  is the other Intel?

Does this occur with the unedited file, or only after you make changes, add effects, etc.?

Though this is an audio issue, try the None(CPU only) setting under OPTIONS | ADVANCED |GPU PROCESSOR.

The three files that you linked above each loaded in a minute or two, played flawlessly and exported losslessly in less than thirty-seconds.  #10 has left-channel audio only, while the others have better quality two-channel sound.

As the issue cannot be replicated here, suggest that you install the latest releaseConsider a REVO uninstall prior to this.

Clear Unused Cache Files before starting each new project.

If the happens with a 'raw' file, please upload and share it.  If audio cuts out after editing, share the project, as instructed above.

Let us know.

Hi Borate,

thanks again for your reply and help.

I solved the problem.

Actually, it's bizarre behavior. I can't understand why this happened and what was the reason. I uploaded another video and it went very well (with sound). I tried 3rd video and also this video was uploaded with sound. When I uploaded the first problematic video again the same problem occurred. The sound disappeared in the same place. I've changed this video file name in my folder and uploaded it again to the video editing tool. And now the video has been uploaded with sound. The problem was solved.

I don't know why this problem occurred. I sent you loom video so you can see and hear it by yourself. But somehow I found how to solve. So, maybe this helps also others who experience the same problem :)

Have a nice day!
