Video and sound occasionally get out of synch

Hi

Occasionally, when editing a clip, the video and the voice get out of synch. Always happens after I split a clip and chop a section out. The following section of the clip gets out of synch and I can't find a way to get it back without closing down and starting again.

Is there any way to get it back in synch without closing down?

Hi

What version of VP are you using? If the video and the sound are linked (and initially in synch) then obviously that shouldn't happen. Deleting a section should leave both of the remaining parts still in synchronisation with their audio. Closing the gap after splitting a track and deleting a section should also retain the synchronization. How are you doing the split?

It should not be necessary to shut down and restart. Any changes you make that seem to result in a fault can be restored by clicking the blue Undo arrows on the top toolbar.

You can always test drive the latest - even if it's not licensed most features will be available.  Retain your old installer and registration.

Let's see what you're working with.  That's the best way to pin down issues like this.

Share your project.  Someone will take a look and come up with a fix.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
