ProjectFreelance
I have tried to authorise Express Accounts with HMRC. I have followd the instructions, authorised with HMRC and have recieved a Success pop up in the application. When I try to run Submit a Vat return or view a VAT return I get an error pop up that says VAT Obligations Retreval Failed. Can anyone help me resolve this please? Chris75
Hello Dcw This issue has been reported to the Express Accounts developers. For more details, you may want to contact the NCH Software support team.
Herbman
I have the same problem. HMRC list Express Accounts as MTD-compatible, but they have told me that there must be a problem with the software. NCH say "we have reported this issue to our developers, once we have feedback we will get back to you !" My concern is that HMRC will start charging penalties if this is not resolved by my first MTD VAT Return deadline. I have so far bought 2 updates for Express Accounts: the first to enable me to use MTD, the second to see if the latest version works with MTD. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Dcw
3 minutes ago, Dcw said: We are in the same boat and realise that HMRC will probably be unsypathetic. We have employed a solution. We have downloaded a program from "Anna", a company that has a free vat return template, which downloads into Excel. Once downloaded you fill in the 9 VAT boxes on their template, and through the Anna icon you gain access to HMRC, authorise the Anna program which puts you back to the Anna template , this then allows Anna to submit on your behalf. It's called bridging software and its free, it also creates vat records future inspection. Did it today and it works👍👍

After a year and still no fix, maybe time to move to another accounting program?

Phil Green
I too am having the same issues with regards to the purchase VAT being imported to the actual VAT return. It imports all other figures but will not place the purchase VAT so as to subtract purchase VAT from sales VAT. Has anyone managed to get this sorted as the company is stating its MTD compliant which clearly is not the case. They appear to be aware of this issue, but have as of yet not solved the issue. It looks like I will have to use Anna as a temporary measure. Im using the paid version of this software which clearly doesn't work as their website claims. So frustrating as MTD is absolutely vital in the UK.
