Combined notes of different time values

Could please get advise on how to create a combination of notes where are:

- two tied eighth-notes one after another, with stems up

-one quarter-note straight beneath the first eighth-note, stem down? 

I think I have tried hours but never found out how it goes.

You can do that with the Slur Tool.

 

To change the stem right click on the note > Stem > Up or Down

Thank you for your reply. Might be I could not explain clearly what I meant.

 

There is question of a situation when there is one 1/2 note and straight beneath that should be a 1/4 note. I cannot place beneath the 1/2 note another with a different value. Could you please advice how to do it?

You can do it as a second voice.  If I understand what you want, the notes start at the same time but one ends sooner.  Yes, its a pain, but write  in two voices,

Piano music needs this feature. Using different voices makes the music sheet too busy, and requires looking at too many staves. That is, unless you can put it in as a second voice and then combine the staves -- but I haven't figured out how to do that, either. This would make a very valuable improvement!
