OKSHAW
I have an Srt file with what seems to be the correct format, e.g. 1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:05,500 Every song should have a verse. 2 00:00:05,500 --> 00:00:09,500 So here is this one, 3 00:00:09,500 --> 00:00:14,000 for better or for worse. But when I load this, the entire file is positioned at time 0, apparently as one huge subtitle. I.e. the subtitles aren't positioned at "00:00:05,500" and "00:00:09,500" etc. I've tried several MP4 files and srt files, at this always happens. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? borate
Let's take a look at the SRT file. Upload it to a free server (Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.), get a shareable (public) link, copy that link and post it here. Someone will check it out. OKSHAW
Thanks for the quick response. I think the problem is as follows: 1) The SRT file I loaded is in iso-8859-1. 2) I hand-entered a new version of the file with Notepad (or Emacs), and it is in us-ascii. That version loads just fine and works just fine. So apparently VideoPad doesn't support ISO-8859-1 (or Unicode) for SRT files. That's bad news for me, because I'm generating the SRT files with a Sibelius plugin, and Sibelius only supports ISO-8859-1 and utf-16le for the text files created by plugins. Any chance of VideoPad supporting ISO-8859-1 any time soon? Or do I have to find a different video editor. -0-0- Here's the two srt files. The "TRUNC LYRICS - text by hand" is us-ascii and it works, and the "TRUNC LYRICS - ISO-8859" doesn't work. https://www.dropbox.com/preview/VideoPad/TRUNC LYRICS - ISO-8859-1.srt?role=personal https://www.dropbox.com/preview/VideoPad/TRUNC LYRICS - TEXT by hand.srt?role=personal Thanks, Phil Shaw
borate
Was unable to access those files, but the issue isn't SRT, it's apparently unicode. The VPCopy.srt file from your earlier thread works just fine. Submit the suggestion to NCH via https://tinyurl.com/r89tpcw And use an easy and quick on-line tool to convert to SSA files. Here's but one... https://tinyurl.com/yxozcrlu Three steps, takes only seconds.
OKSHAW
Thanks for the tip of converting the SRT files. But I decided to be tricky, and I used 4 or 5 online tools to convert my 8859 files from SRT to SRT. They all converted to UTF-8, and all of those converted files work just fine. So, I guess I just have to convince Sibelius to support UTF-8 in their output text files. It would be rather off-putting to tell the users of a plug-in to "Take the output of this plugin and use an online tool to 'convert' it from .srt to .srt (an identity 'conversion'), yielding a UTF-8 version of the file". Thanks again. I guess there's nothing to be done on the VideoPad side.
borate
SRT unicode import now succeeds in release 10.12. Retain your registration (if licensed) and installer. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
