  1. I am not sure what you mean by "record from Windows Media Player". Have you tried to reduce the record volume in the Record Window in WavePad? Please also refer to this to see if you can find an answer.

With the free version, you can use all the advanced features of the Master Edition for 14 days. After 14 days, these features will be disabled; however, you still can use all other features of WavePad.

  2. OK, I did that (its called "Stereo Mixer" on my PC).  I found I have to turn the volume (record level) slider all the way down as far as it goes, and it still seems to be recording a bit too loud.  When recording the meters are solidly in the red.  Any ideas on how to correct that?

What version of WavePad you are using? I think you are using the old version, download version 1.10 from our website and try this:

~ Press F5 to Record. In Record Control Window, select Wave Out Mix in the second top drop down list. This will enable WavePad to record from your soundcard

~ You will see the record volume control on the right.

Hope this will help. If you still have problem, feel free to get back to me.

  3. I have a bunch of MP3 files I would like to add a couple of seconds of silence to the end of.  I tried the batch converter on 3 or files at a time.  It looks like it loads each and then encodes/writes them, but nothing is changed in the files?  Any ideas?

Hi Mark, this seems to be a bug in the current version :( . We are fixing it, the next version of Wavepad will be released soon next week. Can you wait?

  4. I am having the same problem. I have a handful of MP3's that will not open in WavePad, CoolEdit or Windows Media Player Classic, however they will play in  Media Player 9.0 and are recognised as MP3 files. I think that they are of a diiferent CODEC, but I have not found an answer yet.

Can you send one of these MP3 files to ngoc.khuu@nch.com.au? We will have a look!

  5. Thank you, I saw that after writing my question. I have set my regions and now can't save my file as a project and can not burn it to a CD or even find the file to play in windows media player. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Hi Sammmy, which menu did you use to save the region or burn to CD? For saving or burning the regions, you need to use the Bookmark menu, not the File menu.

  6. Most of the effects in WavePad apply only to the selected region, so you need to select a region in order to use them. To mark the selected region you can either click and hold down on the wave window and drag the mouse or press and hold down the shift key while moving in the file. To select the entire file press Ctrl+A.

  7. I know how to record my voice and I know how to also record the track I want to record on but since WavePad doesn't allow you to do both at once I don't know how to match my voice with the beat so everything sounds on time and good. How do I mix it right?

There is a way to get around this problem:

~ Play the music by using WavePad

~ At the same time, record your voice by using RecordPad. RecordPad is available to download from our website at www.nch.com.au/recordpad.

~ After finish recording your voice in RecordPad, save it as a file on your local drive.

~ Now use the option Edit->Mix File in WavePad to mix the voice file with your music track file.

  8. You may try to lower the record volume. Turn down the record volume by 10db and test it; if the sound is still distored then continue to turn down by 10db. Just repeat the steps until you get the sound with the expected quality. The record volume that we usually recommend to our customers is -30db.

  9. I think that by "wrapped" you mean that you have recorded all of the items on the record into one file.  There is no way of automatically "unwrapping" the items.  You will need to use WavePad to move through the file finding the beginning and end of each item.  Select the item and define it as a "region". When you copy the regions to a CD they will be copied as separate tracks.

We will work on the "automatically unwrapping" function in future release of WavePad.

  10. Yes, you can do that with WavePad. Just follow these steps:

~ Connect the line out from your cassette to the line in of the soundcard.

~ Open WavePad and click "Record". You need to select "Line In" as the audio input channel in the record dialog.

    ~ Play the cassette

~ After WavePad finish recording, you can save the file as any file format you want
