addressed Speed Change

Hi and thanks for taking my question.  I reduced the speed to 95% and the audio does not match.  I've had this problem in the past.  Let me give you the particulars.

1.  I'm using 8.10 with Win 10

2.  I originally loaded and edited an hour long video and the result was perfect.

3. I then started a new project and split the hour into 20minute segments.  Then move segments onto their own track and reduced the speed for each, individually.  I played each track and there was no out of sync issues.  I then moved each track back to track 1 and created the video.  The output was out of sync.  I did clear the cache.

Fuzzy, so tough to assess, but sync seems close, even at the end.  Why split the hour?  What were the export settings and format?

To troubleshoot, please share the one-hour, speed-unchanged project...

•     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
•     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. 
•     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" 
•     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

What were the export settings and format?

There was something a little funky about that file - it displayed black blocks near the head.  After being re-encoded that was solved.  Data rate was very low.  Next project, try recording at higher quality.

Reducing speed to 95%, with pitch retained, then exporting the entire project at default mp4 1080 settings resulted in good sync.

This in the current 11.45 32-bit release.

For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

Zoom output file was 1980x1080 mp4 and I loaded it into VPE and exported at the same rate.  So I'm going to start a new project, re-edit and then change speed to 95% then export mp4 at matched rate

I too noticed that there was a 4 sec blank at the beginning.  When I replay the video the blank disappears and the 4 sec cover slide is present.

Why are you giving me the current version?  

I don't understand your comment  "Check my Personal Message for a link to the downloadable export."

Click the envelope at the top-right of this forum.  A personal message is there with a link to the downloadable completed project.

There's no blank at the head seen here - but there are black blocks occasionally at the top of the screen - within the first :30 or so.

Next project, try upping the bitrate (higher quality).  It was very low in this video and that may be contributing to both the blocks and sync issues.

An update to the current version may also solve the sync problem.  It's worth a test.

I just reloaded the original Zoom mp4 and the playback in VPE was very fuzzy.  Should I reinstall the 8.10?  Does VP update its drivers on older versions?

No updates on older versions AFAIK.  And no problem with reinstalling, though performance should be just the same as it was earlier.  No fuzzy video was seen here.

The smaller preview window may look a bit fuzzy, but the 11080HD export is about as clean here as one would expect from a ZOOM session.

Thanks for the correct version.  I noticed that the file size was much small than what I sent you.  Normally, when I upload my VP mp4's to Vimeo, I use a much larger file, about 5gb.  My thinking is that this will give me the best resolution during playback.  Am I wrong?

The linked export had good quality, despite its small size.  In my opinion, especially for WEB-based video, 5G is overkill.  Compare the two approaches and you may see little if any difference.

I have a question about something you said.  When you say, "There was something a little funky about that file - it displayed black blocks near the head.  After being re-encoded that was solved.   How you do re-encode a file?  

Also,  For this hour long video, was it not correct that I put a segment on its own track.  I did this so that each segment had room for the additional time increase.  Once all segments were processed, I just pulled them down to track 1.

The file was re-encoded with another program.  Numerous converters are available, including NCH Prism.

You can have segments on individual tracks.  And it probably isn't necessary to pull them down to track one as each will play in turn.

So if I don't have a converter,  how should I make a speed change in the future? 

I'm very appreciative of the fact that you corrected this project for me.

The converter just re-encodes.  Make the speed change in Videopad.

But re-encoding shouldn't be necessary.  As noted earlier, next recording - not the export - aim for a somewhat higher bitrate (quality).  That may solve the issues.

The speed change tested here on your full project didn't alter synchronization and there was no black at the start.  But there were black blocks during the intro.

In the current VP release the black blocks at the head of the project could also be banished by turning off GPU encoding - OPTIONS | EDITING tab | Video Processor.
