tm0928
Newb here, so please be specific. I have a video where the camera was rotated in several different directions during filming. I would like to correct the bits that are sideways, upside down etc. What is the easiest way to fix this?
Nationalsolo
Hi If a particular clip is not in the orientation required. e.g. sideways.... Place it on the timeline Click the FX box at the left hand end and select the Rotate effect. Click the down arrow for the Rotation angle and choose the value required.....In the above example 270 deg... Note that the image is rotated but will retain the same AR and VP will automatically scale it to fit the frame. If the angle is not a simple one then.. Place the clip on the timeline Click the FX box and select the Rotation effect. This will place a control rotation pattern on the Clip Preview screen... By grabbing and dragging the "handles" you can rotate the image varying amounts in different directions in the three axes. You can also enter values directly into the boxes shown in the effects window for Vertical/Rotation/Horizontal... The image above would be rotated the desired angle (270 deg) or -90 deg ..... Notice that with the Rotation effect the image is not scaled to fit the frame but is automatically cropped. In some cases this may not be what is required. The alternative would be to scale the image FIRST and then add the Rotation. This is largely trial and error but if you set up dual displays you can monitor the final appearance of the clip and then alter the Scaling so the result fits the frame as desired. Disorientation, rotation the of a camera during filming, would be very difficult to correct and in most cases would require splitting the clip up into the separate sections.
