How to insert image and not overlay

Mike P

Recommended Posts

I am having trouble being able to consistently insert an image instead

of doing an overlay.  I would prefer not to overlay and have been able to

insert an image, especially at the start of the video, and then the previously

inserted images would just slide along the timeline.

Any help is appreciated.

Use the right-click menu on the image to be inserted.  Choose PLACE ON SEQUENCE AT START.

Or place the scrubber (red line) on the boundary between cuts and right-click|PLACE ON SEQUENCE AT CURSOR.

Lock the audio track if you don't want it disturbed.

Hi Mike

  • Put clips on the timeline.
  • Drag the image to the overlay track (Video Track 2)
  • Move it along the track to the  desired insertion point
  • Drag it vertically down to Video track 1 and release it. The image will insert into the sequence pushing all later clip/images to the right, leaving a gap in the sound track. (unless it has been unlinked in which case the gap can be closed). The insertion point need not be a join.

The same result can be obtained if the time line red cursor line is positioned beforehand, the image is right clicked from the bin and Place clip on Sequence at Cursor is selected.
