Edit (delete) video only leaving audio alone

aAs it is q1AM and a project is due at noon today, this is probably useless. But Videopad "help" is useless as tits on a bull. Nowhere can I find anyhting (help file, instructions, various tutorials people have posted online) that explains how to delete a portion of thw video part while leaving the audio just as it is. In the first place, everyhting I find talks about either edirting the whole clip, which edits bot audio and video tracks, or splitting the audio to edit onlky the audion track. NOTHING about how to just remove a bit of the video while the audio traxck stays the same. Also, nothing seems to be based on version 4.4, which is what I have. And 4.4 is so different from other versions that even some menu selections mentioned in tutorials do not exist any longer. And even if I could afford an extra $65 to get a grand total of two phone calls, I really doubt I'd get the help I neeed in time to get the thing done then get it and numerous other things assembled into the projextx I have to turn in. NCH apparentl;y does not care very much about whether or not people can actually use some of their software. If they did, they'd have a current manual that people could actually follow, rather than one where the instructions only work if you already know a lot of htings about videopad, and they'd also have tutorials that sre applicable to their currently sold version.

1. Click in the timeline where you want the video excision to begin. (The timeline is just to the right of the word "storyboard.")

Click the small arrow to the right of the SPLIT icon, which is under the preview window. Choose to SPLIT ALL VIDEO TRACKS, or specify the one you want.

2. Click in the timeline where you want the video excision to end and do the same.

3. Select the video clip that was just created - between these two points - and hit the DELETE key, or right-click|DELETE.

Or, if it's easier for you, you can first right-click the video or audio track and choose to UNLINK it. Then right-click the video track and SPLIT SELECTED CLIPS.

Portions of the audio track can be removed in the same manner.

If you make a mistake, press <ctrl-Z> (EDIT|UNDO) immediately to undo the last change. The buffer holds many changes. SAVE AS frequently, incrementing the file # so earlier versions won't be overwritten.

Hi,

There are a few things you can do to remove part of the video:

Separated the a section (Cuting):

  1. Put the video clip on the time line
  2. Move the red cursor (drag the handle on top of the time line) to the position where the section starts
  3. Press the floating "Split all tracks" button or press L
  4. Move the red cursor to the end of the wanted parts and split again. Now have separated the section form the video.

Remove video:

  1. Right click on the video clip on timeline
  2. Select Unlink from Audio
  3. Press Delete

Hope this helps,
