mx1001
Tested with v 4.00 on 2 PC's ( WinXP & Win8.1) Lets have a sequence with one clip . - You right click the clip on Video Files, choose stabilize . - When finish a pop up message prompt you to Replace the file on clip . You choose Replace . - Go to Clip -> Properties and you will notice the new name (eg 'myclip - Stabilized.avi' ) , so you think everything went OK . - Now save the project , exit , load VP and load this project again . - Go to Clip -> Properties and you will notice that the name is still the old one (eg 'myclip.mts' )
borate
That does appear to be the case, but here the file area contains both the original and the stabilized versions after the project is restored. That said, the stabilized file could be added as an overlay, above the original, effectively replacing it.
mx1001
... That said, the stabilized file could be added as an overlay, above the original, effectively replacing it. Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. It's not the same. You have to search for the correct filename and place it toy the correct position . Moreover the clip could be trimmed and / or with some video & audio effects on it (audio fade in/outs etc). Ironically the same file could be displayed as multiple clips ... Replace function is smart and applies all previous work automatically . Moreover(2) if we are talking about a batch Stabilization the pain is multiplied you have to do what you mention one-by-one ... Anyway the bug is obvious ... everything works as expected until you get out of the program ...
Nationalsolo
Hi There does seem to be a bug here. If you stablize a clip and replace the original on the timeline, and then save the project, the reloaded project SHOULD contain the stabized clip.(+any edits/effects etc.) ......IT DOESN'T NCH should have a look at this. A workaround is to step along the timeline to the start of the clip in question using the "Go to Next Clip Edge" button under the preview pane and right click the stabilised clip which (correctly) has been added to the media list. You can now add it to the cursor position on the overlay track. by right clicking it and choosing "Place on Sequence" (Note: Set the default added media position beforehand in the Options to "Ask Me" otherwise you won't see the options) Unfortunately any editing you did on the stabilised clip will be lost If you haven't done any editing the stabilsed clip will play over the unstabilised clip.
