OK.......New topic heading for this... (The other thread had gone off topic.... :)

I can see now where you are coming from...

Just to be clear....VP will not translate... If you have a video with the audio in Turkish but no subtitles and you load it to videopad (the VOB files from a DVD will be converted), there will be NO subtitles. (in any language) and VP cannot add any automatically (or translate the sound to produce them ). This is a specialist procedure requiring specialist hardware and software.

However, there is nothing to prevent YOU from adding subtitles to the video using videopad....that is one of its built in functions, but it is YOU that must do this, either by translating the audio yourself and typing in the text manually in the relevant language (and subject to you having the correct fonts,) or by obtaining a written translation and typing that in.

The videos that you have seen showing subtitles have been specifically created by the company doing the distributing-presumably ASKTV. but even if you loaded the VOB files and converted them for use with videopad, the subtitles, if present, may not even be present on the converted video......but I don't know.

Hi again

There are voice recognition programs that create text from the spoken word, and they work on a PC, but for your specific use they would have to work in Turkish. With the Turkish text you could translate via the web to Arabic text. However it would be a very long-winded way of doing it...even if it worked, (which I vewry much doubt. )

I am pretty certain that, (judging by the Philips Voice Recognition system which I have tried) the results would be hilarious!....and that was English to English text! :D Even the BBC subtitling system gets it wrong from time to time.

Anyway, best of luck with your search.

am not understanding a whole lot of this. How does 3SK.TV does it? How do they go to SHOW TV site copy all the episodes of Karadayi.Firuze ETC and within a day they have it all done translated with subtitles? I wrote them asking them but they never replied back , They maybe afraid that i will take there business away from them, Where i need it for my own use on episodes that they stopped Translating with subtitles so i can go get them from FOX Turkey or Show TV or other sites even Turk TV .

Nat do you understand what i am looking for or trying to do.I found Google translate and trying to figure it out in how it works,But i am all new to it but promise that i will find it and develop a way to have subtitles from Turkish to Arabic done. here is one article i am watching http://www.mattcutts...title-captions/and the other is at Google google_logo_41.png

This may or may not relate to your issue.

TV networks use specialty firms or their own software to encode captions that are delivered as a separate stream, in sync with video. In most cases it's the television received that melds the captioning with the picture.

The process is much like court reporting stenography, and the folks who do it are highly skilled. There is also automated voice recognition captioning software, but that tends to be less accurate in complex audio environments.

One of those two methods is likely in play where translation is concerned, A company that offers this service may be your best source of information. Here is but one... http://www.lnscaptioning.com/
