  1. Hi,

x264enc7.exe is a new codec component used by most of the formats but not all of them.

It should be downloaded automatically from our server when start exporting. Normally you won't even notice if you have a fast internet connection.

    Best regards.

  2. Release Note for v3.89:

    • Can now import sequences from other projects to current project.
    • Recording resolution can now be selected from a pull-down list.
    • Added goto previous/next clip edge buttons on sequence playback control.
    • Adjustments on preview control panel appearance.
    • Sequence zooming control have beem moved under the timeline. Zooming slider behavour has been improved.
    • Clips on sequence can now be 'un-split'. Please note in order to be able to 'un-split' two clips, they have to statisfy the conditions below:
      • They are from the same media file.
      • The left clip's out point must match the right clip's in point.
      • The effects chain on both clips must be matched.

      [*]Added widget for Border effect.

[*]Crop effect has been split into Crop and Zoom effects.

[*]Moved green screen effect to effects dialogue.

[*]Show linked icon on sequence clips.

[*]Sequence timeline context menus now are more consistent.

[*]Fixed a bug where Restore Linked Audio caused crashes.

[*]When exporting video in H.264 format. VideoPad will perform lossless transcoding whenever possible. It will increase exporting speed dramatically while maintain the original quality of the video. Lossless transcoding can only be applied to non-altered(no overlaying, effect and transitions) sections.

    Best Regards.

  3. Hi,

We need to examine the project files to find out what's gone wrong.

Please upload your project files to our FTP:

    ftp://canberra.nchsoftware.com:52111

    Username: nchpublic

    Password: 1r0nMan

To ensure uploading all needed files. Please follow these steps:

    1. Open the project in VideoPad.

    2. From main menu, choose File->Backup Project Files To Folder. VideoPad will copy all files into the specified folder.

    3. Zip the folder into one file.

    4. Upload it onto our FTP and post the file name here.

If you are not used to FTP, you can also share the file on DropBox or other file sharing services and PM me the link to download it. Please DO NOT PM or post your service(e.g. DropBox) account information.

    Best regards.

  4. Hi Fion,

Motion, rotate and scale etc. require hardware acceleration. A black screen indicates that hardware acceleration is not available. Borate is right, it's most likely a driver issue.

    Hi Nat,

Thanks for reporting issues for Scale and Position effect. I'll take a close look on them. Please let us know if you encountered more issues.

    Best regards.

  5. Hi,

Could you tell us a bit more detail about the project? For example:

    • What version of VideoPad you are using?
    • How many clips/tracks in the project?
    • What effects/transitions have been used?.

Please note that reversing (negative speed change) a clip will slow down exporting a lot. That's because the nature of video compression methods. We still working on solve this issue.

It is also possible that a particular effect/transition slow down the exporting. In this case, please help us identify the bottleneck and we will try our best to fix it.

It would also be a good idea to let us take a look of the project. Please PM me if you can do so.

    Best regards.

  6. In the video, Connor used a rotated blank clip as a mask and apply "Green Screen" effect to make the marked area transparent. You can actually trim the picture on picture with arbitrary boarder shape by using the same method:

1.Use any drawing tool (e.g. windows paint) make a mask image. Use two colors to mark the content and border area.

    2. Apply "Green Screen" to make the content area transparent. This is our Sequence1.

    3. Add a new sequence(Sequence2) and use Sequence1 as an overlaying clip.

    08gr8a9cm5.jpg

    4. Apply "Green Screen" to the overlaying clip and make the border transparent.

    5. Now you can use Motion effect to place the overlaying clip whichever way you like.

This is just a temporary solution before we get the masking feature done. You can't soften the border by this way. It would work if you don't need soften border and you can find a color as color key.

    Best regards.

  7. Hi Samantha,

If you save to the same file, the old one will be physically deleted. I'm sorry but there is no reliable way to recover a deleted file. Nat's method only works when the disk sector is still unchanged - it can be modified by the OS any time.

We understand the feeling when this happens. For that we'll make a change in the next release: when you save VideoPad project, the old file will be moved into system recycle bin instead of deleted physically. You should be able to recover it before you empty the recycle bin.

Thanks for letting us know the issues.

  8. Thanks for providing the VOB file.

We've examined the file and found a discontinuity in key frames in the original video. VideoPad automatically detects and fixes up the discontinuity. But it can only fix video frames and therefore makes the sound out of sync. It looks like the video has been edited before and deleted some frames in the middle without fixing up the time stamp for the rest.

Unfortunately to fix this, you have to un-link and edit the sound manually. It seems kind of easy to locate where it starts out of sync - it start with a gray empty screen.

    Best regards.

  9. Hi Anthony,

It seems like the component you downloaded was corrupted.

Please try delete everything in the components folder(C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components) manually and export the project again.

If that doesn't fix the problem, please tell me what video format you export to.

    Best Regards.

  10. Hi,

Thanks to bringing this topic up.

There are things we can do to improve it:

    1. Add more controls to the subtitle dialog to allow shifting subtitles in a group.
    2. Add a new type of clip/track that represent subtitles in the main timeline and allow users manipulate subtitles in the main window.

We'll probably implement the first one first. Please let me know if you have any thought.

    Best Regards.

  11. Hi,

    You can try this:

    1. Move the extra clips (which you want to get rid of) to a new track and keep their time position (move straight up).
    2. Resize (by dragging the edge) the clip on the left/right and fill up the gaps of the extra clips left.
    3. Delete the extra clips.

This can be done precisely because of snapping, just be careful don't drag the clips/edges too far way from the snapping distance.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards.

  12. Hi Roffen,

You can move clips around by drag and drop. The simplest way to move a clip to the end is dragging the clip toward the end. Release the mouse when the beginning of the clip passed the end(inside the empty space). It doesn't matter how far away from the end as the gaps will be automatically removed. You can re-order clips in the sequence by repeatedly dragging clips to the end.

Please beware of that if you drag a clip on top of another clip, the clip underneath will be automatically split(insertion). The split position is at the beginning of the top clip. If the beginning of the dragged clip is snapped to a join, then the clip will be inserted into the join without split any clip - This is another way to change the order.

Hope this helps. If you find anything wrong or confusing, please let us know.

    Best regards.

  13. Hi Lou,

I'm sorry about the awkward situation you've got into. As far as I know, we can not store bookmark information in any of the exported format. Except use them to create DVD chapters as Nat pointed out.

I'm making a proposal to my team for a new feature which imports another .vpj file as additional sequences.

I can not grantee anything at this point though since it would be a non-trivial change. But we always looking for ideas that help us improve the product.

    Best regards.

  14. Hi Ulrich,

It seems that we've updated VideoPad so often for the last few months. It is a side effect that translated versions got cancelled before they pass the testing. They must be tested base on the latest update.

Thanks for reminding us. We'll try to get the translated versions release for the current version.

    Best regards.
