I used the newest (.17) on each computer, then played with older versions on my laptop. I tried several versions back to .05. No change. I know the last DSS was new, but I have no idea about the other 2. I'm not sure that I have access to an old DSS.

Well, I appreciate the thought, but I think you're wrong here. Getting new DSS files didn't help, and the new program can play the old ones.

Has anybody bought the support service for these problems? If so, was it fixed? I'm not adverse to buying a little help, or even some software, if I can be relatively sure it'll fix the problem and get me rolling. I haven't had any income since mid-September, so I don't want to throw good money after bad. I also can't afford to take much longer trying to get going for this job. Any suggestions, anybody? Any are most gratefully accepted!!

I'd like to know more about all this too. I've now downloaded ES to 2 XP Dells and 1 XP Compaq, but none work any better than any other. Thanks!!

4.17 doesn't work on my sister's XP Dell, either. No dice on .05.

Neither 4.15 nor 4.17 works for me. Are there any older versions out there? edit: just tried .08; no dice.

I just wanted to say that I, too, am having the same problem--a duration of 0, and refusal to play, DSS files with 4.17. I have a Dell with XP, if it matters or if anybody's keeping records. I've deleted and redownloaded ES back to the .exe, redownloaded the DSS file, tried another DSS,etc. It does MP3s just fine.
