VP takes up a scary amount of cache space (recent version?)

I am on v.16.14 and have a 4.5h video to edit, I did videos of such length before on versions from years ago and didnt encounter such a problem.
Ended up splitting the video into 5 parts of ~1h each, problem is the software is still very slow and barely 10 minutes in the cache is taking up 120 gigs. Video is 1920x1080 so not a problem of an ungodly res. Never encountered that before.
I am on the 64bit version. Any more info needed leave a comment.

Good enough.  You have reverted to the first version linked above.

There's no mandate to update.  The latest can always be test driven, even if unlicensed, to see how it performs.

For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.  If there's an issue, you can always revert.
