Projects exporting with glitchy black blocks covering the screen

Yesterday when I opened my project and exported it, the video came out with only the top 20% or so of the screen showing the actual video and the other 80% covered in black with some glitchy blocks flickering around the top. I cleared my cache and tried again, but it exported the same way. I started a new project and the same thing happened. This has never happened before. I'm so confused. Here's a screenshot of the export.

Try your screenshot link again;  it's gibberish.

What version of Videopad is being used?  Install the latest Windows release.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.  If there's an issue, you can always revert.

Please check that the PC video drivers and Direct-X are up to date...

I just downloaded the update and it's still doing it, except the black moved to the top of the screen instead of the bottom, and it flickers on and off. The drivers on my computer are up to date. I don't know how to turn my photos into links, and clearly it didn't work when I tried. So I must be missing something. But it's literally just an 80% black screen with a strip of actual video peeking out at the top. And after the update, it's reversed.

The best way to pin this down is to see what you see...

Share your project.  Someone will take a look and come up with a fix.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  Right-click the file and click SHARE. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Okay, I definitely don't want to share a real project, so I used a clip from a TV show in a new project. It doesn't matter which videos or projects I use, they all export the same. So here's the project folder:

And here's what it looks like after I exported it:

In order for us to access those Google links, you must click SHARE and change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."

If you share the actual project with me in a Personal Message (click the envelope at the top-right of this forum) it won't be seen by anyone else.

That's a 360 file.

Exported as a simple mp4 at 1920x1080 it's fine in several viewers here, but for a glitch in the source at about 34.250.  Check the timeline.

Exported as 360 and loaded into the GoPro player it renders in 360 with no glitches.

The problem doesn't appear to be with Videopad, but with the file - perhaps.  If possible, try it on another PC.

Test the attached file, re-encoded with Handbrake.  Right-click on it and Save.   Export a standard mp4 (not 360) @ 30fps.  It's clean here.

Here's something else to try, to ensure that there are no corrupt VP components.

Close Videpad.  Open these folders in Windows Explorer (the file manager) and delete all files that they contain, then reinstall VP.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components"   or a similar folder without the (x86)

"C:\Users\<PC Name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components"

I checked to make sure my export settings hadn't somehow changed themselves since the last time I successfully exported, and it looks like the frame rate did change, but fixing that didn't stop the glitching, just made it run smoother (while glitching). I tried uninstalling the program completely and reinstalling, which didn't help, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the previous version of the program, which made it go back to most of the screen being black. So assuming it was something to do with the software, I popped the same video file into the generic video program that came on my PC (climpchamp) and it exported completely fine. Is there something that could be causing the program to have issues with my computer? As I said, my system settings are completely up to date (and everything worked two days ago), but it's obviously working for you, so I don't know what the problem could be.

Try the component folder file deletion procedure outlined at the end of my prior post.

Something else to try...

Go to OPTIONS/ADVANCED and in the GPU section at the bottom change "default" to "NONE (CPU only)."

Then restart Video pad.

Did you test export the Handbrake re-encoded file?

You can also test different export compressors...  image.png

Click the blue Default Quality/Filesize link to access this setting.   Let us know.
