Cannot find image that appears after end of project

I added a fade to black at the end of my video and exported it. After the export successfully completed I reviewed it. An image used elsewhere in the video appeared briefly after the video was supposed to end. I can make the image appear but cannot locate it on any of the video tracks. I'd like to delete it from the video track.

Perhaps if I remove the image file from the project, reload it, and add it again to the video track I'm using for images?

Your input and advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Expand the timeline, using the slider at the bottom-right of the window...  image.png  Perhaps there's an errant snippet on the track.

If the images are on track 1, switch to Storyboard mode.  That may reveal it.

If you take a minute to share your project, someone will likely come up with a fix.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Thank you both for responding. I had tried expanding. I'm new to this software so didn't consider switching to storyboard mode. More to learn!

Deleting the file and reloading it worked. I noted track location of file before deletion from project, reloaded it, added it back to the video track and expanded it to the noted size.

As Shakespeare said, "All's well that ends well".

Actually, the more you play with this, the more you learn. I often just start a project for no other reason than just to play, and try different things, like zooming up in the middle of a clip to get a close up, getting someone to move backwards, anything, just play.

I just had this problem with a 2 clip, :30 second vid. After Exporting, just before a Fade Out a millisecond image from the first frame of the clip flashes, then the Fade begins. It was a glitch, as I went frame by frame on the timeline and nothing. I deleted both clips, pulled down the offending clip by itself, did the Fade to Black, and Exported. Perfect. Added the other clip, did my transitions and everything was perfect! I'm just happy I was only working on a short subject! I'm new to NCH, but started on an AVID in the 90s, then IMovie. Now I'm on a PC and liking this system!

When issues surface, check in here.  Share a project when possible.

For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

But if things are working well for you there's no mandate to update.  The latest can always be test driven, even if unlicensed, and will be full-featured during a trial period.
