Help! Newer versions issue. Inserting clips or images moves all the ones on other overlay tracks

I am wanting to use a newer version for so long now, and every now and then I try the newer versions and have to install the old one cause it does not have this issue.

It is not workable at all, and it is so frustrating I can not insert a clip or a image without all the other ones on other overlay tracks moving from their places, including the sound tracks.

I hope anyone has any suggestions, cause it is not workable to move them one by one by hand.

I use a lot of overlays and it is impossible to work anything in this way.

I used the group function to insert and it helps a bit, but when making an image or clip longer that I inserted before the ones that are in the group by pulling right or left, it is still messed up.

Everything goes out of place including the single sound track despite the group function. Any suggestions?

If a video clip has sound that you don't want moved when its video is dragged, sized, or a clip is inserted, first separate the audio from the video.  Right-click on either track and UNlink.  Here, when those actions are performed, the overlays do not move.

To keep independent, non-linked tracks from being affected lock them.  Right-click to the left of the track and LOCK TRACK.

If you make a mistake, immediately press <ctrl-Z> to backtrack, step-by-step.  EDIT menu | UNDO does the same.

For protection, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.

Thanks for responding, but it does not fix the problem that the newer versions has a need for so many things to do for the simplest thing, like pulling left or right on an image or clip. I am just in constant panic mode to see if i did not forget to group or ungroup to make sure everything is not off place.

Btw, I always use the unlink for the audio, so that is not the issue, the issue is the pulling on an image or clip and now I have to cut everything for even the smallest adjustments. I do really love Videopad, and i am using a really old version 4.48 and really tried to make the newer one workable, also because of the black theme, cause it looks so much better.

It is a waste that the way it was did not hold up in the newer versions and I do hope someone would fix it, cause i see many people have the same issues with it.

Best regards Natasja

If possible grab a short video showing precisely what you are trying to do.  In tests here there's no issue here with expanding, contracting or moving a clip.

In this example all audio tracks are unlinked and nothing is grouped.

A clip is dragged right, resized, dragged left, resized ... then the reverse - to bring it back to the original size.  No movement of other tracks occurs.
