Bax Burgess
Hi all. User of the paid 11.18, using Mac OS 11.6.3 Everything looks good when editing, the black background 100% black, surrounding an isolated figure. In the rendered video, several thin diagonal lines cross the background area, the area edited out with green screen.
borate
Can't check the Mac version, but it's clean in Windows. Experiment with the settings... Report the issue... https://www.nch.com.au/software/bug.html?software=VideoPad
Bax Burgess
Will do. Thanks.
KTM
I have the same problem since the update recently. Renders with a diagonal green line from top left to bottom right. Sometimes extra lines of white and pink flash on and off too. I'm not using a green screen effect, but some of my pictures are vertical, and the black in the background on the left and right has these lines. borate
Is this the MAC version or Windows? What release? Look at the bottom-left of the window. Share your project. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
KTM
I made a quickie project with the same issues. Yes it is a Mac. Videopad Professional version 11.18. Here is the link to the folder. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1f1cUURIJOUuHnUgejLIQO1h2LI6kkjeF?usp=sharing Again, it looks great in the preview section, but once I export it, mp4 mov and avi all show the same issue. I did try messing with the green screen settings, and I continue to have the same trouble. Still messing with it (kind of like an animal bashing buttons not knowing which one does what 🙂 ) ha Thank you for watching the forum and extending some aid, it is very much appreciated. borate
Clean as a banana in Windows, whether exported mp4 or AVI over no background or a blank on a lower track. Considering this thread, a possible MAC issue. Be sure that the video driver is up to date... AMD / ATI users: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx Intel users: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx nVidia users: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Try this release. If the issue goes away, then the 11.18 version is at fault. In any case, report your findings to NCH... https://www.nch.com.au/software/bug.html?software=VideoPad The cupcake doesn't have a transparent background. The GIF doesn't animate in VP - some, like this one, do...
KTM
I appreciate your help. The Mac says it is up to date with the software. I'm running catalina 10.15.7. I downloaded the previous version of videoPad to see if it is the latest update that is doing it. Same problem. This is what it looks like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkd7uLk9nnY I'm sorry you guys don't have MAC to check with. Seems I'm not the only one with this issue. I think I was running a version 10 before this. Kept crashing so I found an update and that is when the problem started. I guess if thats the best we can do at this point, I have no further questions. Just frustration. I'll post where you told me to. Thanks for the info. borate
Upload the project in its entirety, for a further analysis. Try adding a blank, black background on a lower track. When you submit the bug report include a pointer to the URL of your video. Here's another version to test.

I don't understand how to add a blank background. I have to add SOME form of image in order to create a video on the Video 1 area. I did consider taking a screenshot of a black screen and fitting it perfectly to the background as a band aid. I think this is what you suggest yes? borate
It's unclear what's creating the issue in your Mac version. The suggestion was to place a blank black frame on track one for the entire project. Then place the clips on track two. Whether or not that will succeed is problematic. macfly
Thanks for reporting this. Currently taking a look at this. In the meantime please try to export to a movie with a width that is divisible/multiple of 8, e.g. 1920
KTM
Thank you for the band aid. Exporting in proper size is helpful.
macfly
Last week's version 11.27 Mac release (https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/vpmaci.zip) also fixes the original problem. Thanks
