New User/ Logo Question

I haver a 2 color image I want to make into a logo. It is a black windvane on a white background. All I want is the black windvane for my logo. Is there a tutorial or an instruction set I can follow to teach this?

What you can try to do is select the section using the magic wand so ten you can invert the selection and remove the rest of the image keeping just the black wind vane
