frankh7000
I apply a levels effect on a video clip on the RGB channels. The result looks perfectly fine. Now saving the project and closing VideoPad. Next time opening the project the Levels effect is still assigned to the clip but it shows as if no effect is applied and the RGB curve looks as before without adjustments. The sliders are at the basis positions as well. Couldn't find how to fix this Levels effect at the clip. Any ideas? Thanks, Frank.
borate
What Videopad version is being used? Not seeing that issue with the latest release. Give it a try. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
frankh7000
Thanks borate. I started using VideoPad with 11.3 and just upgraded to 11.6 but it shows the same issue, regrettably.
borate
Unable to replicate that here in 11.06. Color curve settings stick. Share a clip that does this and someone will take a look... Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view." Normal... Adjusted... Two things that might cause this are clicking the X in the effects box, which will cancel the effect... And forgetting to SAVE.
frankh7000
Thanks borate. Here is what happens with the Levels effect, Google link below: 1. I apply the levels effect looking fine 2. close the effect window - still fine 3. view the video - still fine 4. save the project - still fine 5. close VideoPad 6. open VideoPad 7. open the project - Levels effect is still assigned to the clip but looks even worse than before. The levels curve is heavily compressed in the center area. Please see the screenshots in Google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ZlfEjKijdoagkhu74Yu2Tw8Ft9__Vx0f?usp=sharing Thanks. borate
Let's take a look at the project. That's the only way folks can replicate what you see. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
frankh7000
Yes, here is the link to the folder. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hqyXZd00JseXB9OJe97oH6ml-zntqqrx?usp=sharing Please let me know in case it doesn't work. Nationalsolo
Hi Works OK in 10.56 Before and after saving project are identical and Levels effect settings are as they were when the project was saved. No sign of a reset. If you say that the effect settings have returned to normal when you reload the vpj file you saved then that is odd. They should still be set as they were when you saved. They should not reset themselves. Check that you are not re-loading your project from an exported project. If you saved the project by exporting it, the reloaded clip will (of course) show the Levels effect you made but if you then open the effect it will show the graph reflecting the changed RGB since it is essentially a new image. The Level settings will be back to normal as they would with any new image. Are you reloading the project from a saved vpj file or a saved (exported) project? (Just a thought) Nat
frankh7000
Hi, when exporting with the settings - the exported video looks fine. As well if opening from an exported project - all is fine. Just if saving the project (vpj) - closing VideoPad - later starting VideoPad new - then opening the vpj project the Levels setting looks worse. borate
You've unearthed an 11.0x bug. As Nat notes, levels should save - as they do in the 10.x series. Please leave your link up over the holiday weekend, so it can be accessed by the developers. In the interim, use the COLOR CURVES effect instead. It seems to be tracking well. Or install this version.
