Alan R
I'm sure VP can, but need a prompt in the right direction please. Have a project, visit to a zoo, plenty of images and clips the latter carrying their own soundtracks of chirps squawks & roars etc. I want to add some background music that gets automatically suppressed (to some degree) when a real live zoo sound is present. Can't even remember what the technical term is, but any pointers welcome. Thanks.
borate
Audio "ducking." VP is just, uh, 'ducky' at this, but it will take experimentation. And if the foreground noise isn't loud enough then it might not work. Tweak the settings under the OPTIONS | AUDIO tab. On the timeline, right-click the music track and enable BACKGROUND SOUND. Try these parameters for starters...
Alan R
Brilliant - thank you Needed some experimentation and a read up on decibels about which I readily admit I knew next to nothing! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jWUhynEBAiYf2NkVhkKfX65Z9n-IDPSH/view?usp=sharing are my settings, they work well, and the background music is almost unheard when even the slightest murmur is present, which is what I wanted. Thank you again, Alan. PS how did you insert your image into this chat? rather than a link that I did?

Use their GET | COPY LINK option.
