Wrong audio when editing

I'm trying out videopad 8.56, and I kinda  I like it. Al-tough it is a bit slow for such a tiny download.

Almost a constant CPU  25% usage, without doing anything. And loading a projects takes annoyingly long.

But that's not what I'm complaining about now.

For some reason it sometimes mixes up the audio completely within the editor.

After loading a project totally unrelated audio is added to certain clips.

Probably some sort of caching problem, but annoying .

How do I clear the cached files?

So I deleted all files in the temp folder after closing the project. This fixed the audio problem.

But it took forever to re-index the files when opening the project again. Really felt like forever!

I ordered a SSD drive, that should help a little. But maybe videopad is not for me :(

I was expecting more speed from such a small package. Kinda disappointing.

(I'm using a 6th generation i7 with 8 GB ram)

Clearing Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab, prior to starting a new project is wise.

What's the length of the project and the resolution of the bulk of the source files?

Install the latest version.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

More RAM might help as video editing is resource intensive.  Close other programs.

If you share your project, folks here can spot problems and compare load times.  This is an easy 4-step process.  Don't submit the export, just the project...

1. With your project on the timeline, click the 3-lined 'hamburger' menu, top-left.  Click FILE | BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Specify a folder.  Click SELECT FOLDER.
2.  Using the PC file manager, go to where the numbered folder was saved and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.*
3.  Get a shared, public link that anyone can view.
4.  Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me.  This is private and won't be shared.
*    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

The original footage was about 5 hours of fullhd video. A voice over audio track, some pictures and lots of speed ups resulted in a 24 minute video.

The editing speed and preview preview was ok. But the load times were a bit annoying. Mostly I was satisfied with videopad. It has better feature then my old editing software wondershare. (now called filmora)

But I found it extremely slow when editing a zoom effect on a picture. And the result wasn't that great, not very smooth: https://youtu.be/TeSobDOujyM?t=1032

I doubt that more ram will make a lot of difference on a 32 bit program. But a SSD will probably help a bit.

It is also annoying that videopad takes a couple of seconds to close/exit and its cpu usage is a bit strange.

Holding back at times and constantly preforming some sort of hidden background process that needs 25% cpu time.

Hope all of this will be fixed in a future 64 bit version.

Usually Smart Max does a nice job, but if there's jumpiness, try exporting at a higher frame rate.

A minimum of 16MB RAM isn't a bad idea for video editing.  https://tinyurl.com/yyrwrswt

There's also the proxy approach for large high-res files and lengthy projects (or break projects into segments/export/assemble later).  See the 'sticky' at the head of this forum.    https://tinyurl.com/y4r2jyn4

VP undergoes constant improvement.  Work is underway to maximize GPU utilization, which should help speed effect rendering.

After a long wait, were videopad appeared to be halted in windows (It was not doing all that much according to the resource monitor) About 8GB of cache data was regenerated and the audio problem appears to be fixed again. (the wave forms in videopad look correct again) But for how long before this starts all over.
