Subtitle file loads each line twice

I generated a subtitle file using Audacity. Ran the Label2srt jar  (https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Movie_subtitles_(*.SRT) )

Could not view the output properly in editors, such as notepad++.

Figured, maybe it was a npp problem, so I loaded the file into Videopad.

Each line was loaded twice, but the first line had unprintable characters and the second line was loaded correctly. Of course, since the times of each of the pairs of lines was identical they superimposed on each other making the subtitles unreadable.

Of course, I could manually delete every other line, but for an hour and a half video that is a bit much.

Any clue what may be going on?

Seems that the subtitles were not generated correctly?   Try this, which has done well in the past with VP.
