Not getting OCR when converting PDF to DOC

Recommended Posts

This is my first post so please bare with me. I see several posts about this problem but do not see a solution.

My son is doing his schooling via. the internet during the covid-19 pandemic. He gets his assignments from his teachers  thru Edsby.

Some are in PDF format but it is not editable so we are trying to convert them so he can fill in blanks and select correct answers.

Hence we need it in an editable format. The problem we have is using Doxillon to convert we get the file to transfer to a docx file but

the text is still non-editable. When we click on a text it selects the complete page, so I assume it sees it as an image. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, BIGbill

Hey there. It's been a long time since you started this thread, so I hope you've found a solution. But, in case you're still struggling with converting those PDFs to an editable format, you could try using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, which can convert non-editable scanned documents into editable ones. There are several OCR software options available, including Adobe Acrobat, ABBYY FineReader, and Readiris. Btw, you could also try using this automatic document scanning and OCR service. It can help extract text from scanned images or PDFs, making them editable. Check out https://smartengines.com/ for more info. Hope this still helps.

Hi @MacyBentley,

If you need a software only for editing PFD files ( to easily create, edit or sign your PDF documents, add text or edit existing text, make layout adjustments, insert, move, or delete images in existing PDF files) I suggest you to check NCH software > PicoPDF Editor.  On the following link, you can find more information about this program:  https://www.nchsoftware.com/picopdf/index.html

In case you need technical assistance with Doxillion I suggest you to contact NCH technical support, here is the link:
