newguy
I just started using VideoPad and every time I include a video file, it would only play the audio while leaving the screen blank. I'm hoping that I can get some help cause I'm still new to this and its frustrating that I can't even start editing. EDIT: the video file is Mp4 and my VideoPad version is 8.35. borate
What version of Videopad is being used? It's shown at the left-bottom of the window. What format is the source clip: Mp4, AVI, MOV, etc? Be sure that your video driver and Direct-X (Windows) are up to date. borate
Upload the clip and someone will check it out. Use a free server, such as Google Drive, MS OneDrive, DropBox, etc. Make the file public (share it), copy the shared link and post it here. Or post the like privately to my personal messenger box - click the envelope at the top-right of this forum.

borate
File looks perfectly normal here in v8.35. Does it show up in the bin (top-left)? Does it play from there? Drag it to the sequence - does it play there? Check out those tips listed in the post above.

borate
Odd. If you have confirmed the latest video driver and Direct-X, close Videopad. On the PC, delete all files in this folder. "C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components" Reinstall VP. Any change? Does it do this with other Mp4 files, or files of a different type? Can you test on a different PC? RobinRaben
I have a similar problem. I can load several video files (both .mp4 and .m4v) without an issue. But there is one file .m4v which loads but only the audio track is working. The video track is solid black. I am able to play the file directly. Using Win10.Videopad version 8.06. I tried deleting the files from "C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components" as described above but it did not fix my problem. Any ideas on what else I can try?
