Subtitles missing from imported vids

Hi, forum. I want to reedit a less gory/brutal version of The Passion of the Christ, and had no problem burning my own dvd copy of the movie. But I discovered that the English subtitles (the whole movie was done in ancient Aramaic and Greek) don't show up in VP or other editors. How can those be retained?

The subtitles to your original DVD are not normally part of the actual video, they are stored as a separate stream and depending on the type of video possibly in several different formats. You would require a specific type of DVD ripper. There are numerous sites offering these.

I've no experience with them but you could possibly give one a try.
