Rewind doesn't work properly

Hi,

I'm new in this forum, though I have been using Express Scribe for awhile.

 

I would like to address the following problem, which didn't occur in past versions. Basically, whenever I press rewind, while the video/audio is playing, the track goes forward instead of backward. This didn't happen with past versions, nor does it occur when I stop the audio beforehand.

 

I'm using Windows 7, and no transcription gear, other than my laptop.

 

It seems that there's something about the settings that I haven't figured out. I would use v4.35, but that one doesn't allow videos.

 

Help would be very welcome,

You can't fix it by changing your settings - it's a known problem with Scribe v5.00.

Changing the settings doesn't work.

 

Rewind = Fast Forward if you have Express Scribe and Windows 7.

 

Perhaps this will get fixed, but until then, avoid this latest buggy version of E. Scribe.

Right. It's limited to express scribe, a spotty program at best. The sheer volume of problems with Express Scribe makes me sometimes wonder if it isn't a bit of scam to sell technical support, but who knows?

 

MY FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM.

 

 

Anyhow, this is how I made Express Scribe work for one of my scopists and made the hotkeys rewind/fastforward work in Windows 7 properly.

 

1. Download Express Scribe version 4.30.

 

It's out there. Just Google for it.

 

2. Right click on the Express Scribe icon. Do not double click and start the program.

 

3. Go to "properties."

 

4. Go to "compatibility" tab.

 

5. Click the box "run this program in compatibility mode" and I chose Windows XP service pack 2

 

6. The fastforward and rewind hot keys work for my scopist now.

Well, it worked for a while. Then it stopped working.

 

My suggestion if you need a transcribing program that works, try Gear Player. Express Scribe is just too buggy.
