  1. Thanks guys, I mistakenly loaded the file on the timeline to work on the audio and some transitions. I've identified my first split point but I'm not sure how to save it and export it as instructed by Nationalsolo above. How should I proceed? I do want to create three other split point and add a slide image or two at the transition and end point. Big thanks for you help. PeterD
  2. What follows is a compilation of questions from another topic. I've used them to start a new topic. I add a new question at the end. I've got another project to complete. I'd like to divide a presentation spanning 2.5 hours into 3 parts. Any general pointers are appreciated. Peter D ================= Borate Replied: One approach would be to break a project into manageable parts, perhaps five half-hours. Edit the first, then export it. Do the same for the second, and so forth. When all five parts have been exported each will be a single clip. Load them in order into a new VP project and export this final version. Check out this thread ========================= NationalSolo Replied Hi Italiengen This thread has gone off topic and you really ought to start another..😉 Anyway....... An alternative possibility in reply to your question is.... Open VP and load your 2.5 hour project. (Patience ) Do not place it on the timeline. Left click the clip in the bin to select it. In Clip Preview use the cursor line to set the START and END markers to isolate the first section (1/2 hr?) of your video Click the Add button below the window to place your selection on the timeline. ****** Export the timeline in your required format. When exported completes clear the timeline (Delete) Left click the clip in the bin to select it again.......It will retain the previous START/END points. Reset the START END markers to isolate the next 1/2 hr section of your video Repeat the steps above from *** Repeat until all the project has been exported in 1/2hr segments. Note that a 2.5 hour project MAY take some time to handle... Nat Borate and NationalSolo, Thanks for the advice on the 2.5 hr. Project. Is it best to clean up (audio, effects, etc) the 2.5 hrs as 1 file, then divide it up in Parts 1-5? Let's say I work on Part 1 and have effects that I want to apply to the other 4 parts, is this accomplished by saving the effects as a template and simply selecting it for each of the other Parts? How is it applied? Is it when I "Save Project As" for that Part x Thanks, Peter D
  3. Borate, I'm happy to report that because of your overall help and more specifically, the last set of instructions, I was able to complete the project. It took a few attempts but I finally got it right, at least for our purposes. Can't thank you enough. Guess what? I've got another project to complete. I'd like to divide a presentation spanning 2.5 hours into 3 parts. Any general pointers are appreciated. Peter D
  4. Borate, I've almost got it..... I can't figure out how to re-position the end point of split on the first track. I've got everything lined up and muted when they should be but the end point of the mute on the first track needs to be extended..... For that matter, how do you make those minor tweaks anywhere you might need them? I understand that zooming the timeline gives you more precision but how to execute the intended operation is lacking on my end, but with your help I know a lot more to then last week! How do you change the background colors. It is hard to make out the splits black line on a dark gray background. How can I slow down the play back speed just for the section I'm working on? Feel free to add any other pointers. As always, thanks. Peter D
  5. Thanks for the encouragement. Your further explanation helps. So if I get track one's start point then mute it and then line up the correction on track to at it's start point, how do I limit the end points? Do Have to be in "Clip Mode?" Now, when I find the 2nd correction to be made on track 1 (and follow you explanation to the above question) and then mute track one so that I can find the second correction on track two, I'm confused on what is happening when I try to position track 2 at the right position. If I were to Identify the start and end points timing numbers can I use that info to set the [ ] brackets. Are some adjustment made in the preview panel and some are set on the audio track at the bottom. Are you confused yet???

  7. Borate, Are there any training videos that you could recommend other than those by NCH that show how to use certain functions, for example this audio correction task? Sorry to be a bother. Thanks
  8. Borate, I'm having some difficulty understanding the steps necessary to preform this replacing a spoken phrase. I've been reviewing some of the NCH videos to pick up concepts but just have not grasped enough...yet. 1. Got the clip loaded on the time line and have identified the split point where I want to insert a correct phrase. I split it then I muted the audio at that point. (Q: once I get the corrected phrase inserted do I then un-mute the audio so that the rest of the original track plays?) 2. I loaded the correction audio track on track 2. This tract has the speaker repeating the correct phrase a few times. Once I hear the instance I like, do I highlight it and copy it? I tried to pull it up into track 1 but that does not work either. 3. After I get this edit or correction done, and save the project, will both audio tracks be saved and when I export an MP4 file only track 1 with the correction be compiled? Thanks again for your support. Peter D
  9. Ok. Got it. I need to replace the name of a church that the presenter got wrong. He noticed his error and I recorded his correction on another wav file. What is the best way to remove and replace with the correction? TKS. Peter D
  10. Borate, I was successful with applying the fades and transitions thanks to you. Do you have any pointers about the export resolutions. Sure I want the best for our members viewing but I also realize that these presentation will primarily be displayed on a computer screen and sometimes on a larger TV. Also, these are not action type videos. I'm recording in 1080P with a Sony Camcorder FDR-AX53 and import an mp4 file into VPE. Sometimes I see 720p when I create an export mp4 from VPE. Any reason for this? Yes, I see that the higher resolution means larger file size and download / upload times. Are there other variables that are important to consider. Big thanks for your help in educating me. PeterD
  11. Thanks Borate, 1. When I sent the VP portable file to you I received an email asking for access. Is he from NCH or part of the community? 2. When I finish a project and release a video to our membership via a link, the file should be an exported MP4 and not a portable project file version, correct? 3. Is WP Standard edition good enough for my purposes? As for NCH purchases, is the price a one year license fee? 4. Does the VLC player give the viewer a better display, or are they all basically the same? 5. I did slow down the overall speed and it really improved the works just great. 6. I've inserted a cover photo at the very beginning of the sequence for a duration of 5 seconds but I can't figure out how to fade-in then fade-out of it , then fade-in to the sequence of the presentation itself. I can't seem to see the fade indicator on the timeline.... Regards, PeterD
  12. Understood on all comments. Question; if I were to purchase Wave Pad, does the VP audio file need to be unlinked and processed by WP then brought back into VP and relinked? Or is WP embedded into VP? The acoustics in the auditorium are not great nor is the camera mic. I used his laptops audio recording as it was much better. I then processed in "Audacity" then exported a wav file and lined it up with the video, as you know. Do you think I gain much more by using WavePad instead. Have a nice Sunday. PeterD
  13. Borate, Again, thanks for the support. 1. I'm going to use your improved version as a new project in VP as apposed to replacing it in the original project. Am I correct in proceeding this way. 2. Is there a way to see what you changed the values in the "Equalizer" from what they were, to what you changed them to in order to achieve your improved audio results? 3. I understand you about splitting into new clips and I guess I can do the same with some slides that are over exposed. Using a mask, then apply exposure adjustments to the slide area then snap it back in. Am I more or less correct? I'm really learning a lot from you. Peter D
  14. I do apologize if all those prior links were not want you wanted. I think this one is what you want. Please confirm. Peter D https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xZlgbkuWqqiqVc4GOgnP6nPhloJsIDXQ/view?usp=sharing
  15. Is this the correct link? Because the one I just sent you is the original one https://drive.google.com/open?id=1xZlgbkuWqqiqVc4GOgnP6nPhloJsIDXQ

  17. Followed your instructions above. Here is the link. I'm trying to slow down the presenter's speech. I'm not sure to what % yet. After I'm successful at this I would like to increase the audio volume of the audience during Q&A.at the very end of the video. Can I just highlight their questions and increase the volume individually? Ver.7.02 W10 Home ver 1809 I hope I did this correctly...? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xZlgbkuWqqiqVc4GOgnP6nPhloJsIDXQ/view?usp=sharing Peter D
  18. Hi Borate, I've created a small screencastify video (22MB) of what I've tried and obviously do not complete understand. Here is the link. Is this type of video communication acceptable? Peter D https://drive.google.com/open?id=1M4rypMLFw4QIBjWMICxVb5hvk2GStl4V
  19. Thanks Borate and Nat, Following your advice, I was able to achieve replacing the audio track. When I save the project, will the video and new audio portions be Linked? Now, what I trying to accomplish is slowing down the speed of the entire video. The reason; the presenter speaks a-mile-a-minute. This is a common flaw for us here in the New York area... I've tried to change the "Clip" speed but I can here any difference even if I use a 50% value. I really want to apply a change to the entire video (sequence in this case. Am I using the correct term here?). You are really helping me out and I hope I'm not abusing the privilege. Peter D
  20. Hi. I'm working a project that I want to use a different audio source from the original presentation video. The second source is much better but does not have the same timing as to starting points as the video. I trimmed the video front and back so I know my starting point. I have a wav file for the second audio source and its appropriate start point that relates to the video start point. I think I need to unlink the original audio and delete it and somehow replace it with the good source. For some reason I don't think this is correct?? What is the best way to proceed? Thank you for your help. Peter
  21. Just a quick reply to say thank you for your help, especially Borate's last reply. I was successful in in finishing my project using a slightly different approach. I created a recording of the PP slides with slide advances at "My Click" not a set time. I used a second screen to watch the video presenter's video at the podium. And a third screen to view the next slide in the presentation so that I knew when to advance to the next slide. I then used picture - in - picture (scaling, motion, cropping) to arrange presenter at the podium and the slide presentation. Again, Thanks for your help. I'm going to start another topic "Audio Overlay" asking for some guidance.
  22. Hi everyone (kutWrite, borate and Nationalsolo), I have the exact same situation and requirement today as KuWrite back in 2015. The new variables are: I'm using Video Pad ver. 7.02 installed today and Windows 10 kept up to-date. I am not a professional in the area of video editing and while learning the software, I have used some of the basic function VPE. I've kinda followed the suggestion made by the group. I was wondering if the solution has changed or been simplified and if there is a how-to video. Thanks to everyone for any assistance. Peter D for the Italian Genealogical Group. Thanks Nat for your reply. Is there a training video that shows how to perform those steps? I fear that it would take me much time to figure out the process even with your description. Thanks again. Peter D
