  1. Hmmmm, disappointing that there is still no option to zoom in on the wave forms, and that the biggest part of the lower screen seems to be exclusively reserved for the hugely oversized drag and drop area. The Normalize option does not do anything for me. I don't know what 'normalizing' is supposed to do here, but I guess my input already has a normal level (it goes straight from the digital piano to USB). I don't want to increase the gain on the piano because then my recordings from now on will be much louder than the ones before ( I use only the external audio for the final video). The Sync Audio option is no alternative. I actually need to edit the video track to be in sync with the external audio track. If I just need to sync them, one simple mouse drag is all it takes. This option seems quite superfluous to me, was it something that users have asked for ? If yes, could enlarging the WAV not also be considered ?
  2. Oh, it doesn't bother me at all. I was only wondering if there was some problem when I saw it first. But thanks anyway !
  3. By all means take it out. Seems like the sort of funky but ultimately useless stuff that Microsoft likes to implement.
  4. Aha, Clip Classification ! I had not noticed that. Turns out that Blue is for Music, Green is for Voice. Now why VideoPad classifies some of my piano only WAV's as "Voice" is quite beyond me. I can't quite see the point of this feature actually. But I'm glad the mystery is solved, thanks for that.
  5. I got no insight whatsoever. Same information shown, also in the Properties. All audio files are WAV, created by the same audio editor in exactly the same way. Ah well, a little color diversity brightens up things a bit 😀
  6. I was creating a video with 4 video files and 4 audio files, and I noticed that the first two of my audio files are blue, the last two are green. See Different colors image I was surprised to see the green appear with no.3, I think they've always been blue for me. Or maybe green, but not both. There doesn't seem to be a problem, but surely this must signify something ? Just curious ....
  7. Ah right, thanks ! I had never thought of that. Still strange though that suddenly the Lock icon is gone but the solo and mute icons are still there. I'm sure they had a good reason for this change...
  8. I recently upgraded from 10.24 to 10.64. Now I can no longer lock my external audio track. Before 10.24, the lock icons/buttons were always visible, next to the Mute and Solo buttons. Then in 10.24, there were only visible when hovering the mouse over their location. Though strange, still workable. Now in 10.64, they seem to be gone altogether. What's up? I prefer to lock my audio track because I never want to change that when editing the video track.
  9. That looks like an issue with your browser's DOM support. I would try with another browser first, before doing a system restore. Regarding the image shown, Microsoft has the annoying habit of showing 'creative' icons and texts in their Outlook.
  10. Haha, don't tell me these guys are developing on 14 inch screens ! I didn't know there was a suggestions form. Will drop my two cents there. Thanks for listening anyway.
  11. Yes... but muted is not the same as unused ! I need both tracks so I can sync the external audio with the video. Only then I mute audio track 1 and create the video. Don't you agree it should be possible to vertically enlarge the audio tracks ? Or am I the only one doing this kind of thing ?
  12. The wavefile is really not the problem, borate. I have linked 2 screenshots to show (hope you van view them). https://1drv.ms/u/s!Am3hcPuh7NatgbhUi-UlQoiNg-cBQA?e=8NNk2D This is after importing just the external audio track (WAV file). No problem with the gain, as you see, and the waveform is large enough to work with, even though it cannot be enlarged vertically. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Am3hcPuh7NatgbhTdkEHbSK5TqU_uw?e=N2Mhp6 Here I've imported also the video track (MP4 file). Both waveforms now apparently have to share the same area, and things get very small indeed. I appreciate VP is not an audio editor, but why can these areas not be expanded ? I can try to slide things around but only area that gets bigger is the bottom drop area. I can't fathom the logic behind that...
  13. I've done this once or twice, but it's cumbersome. I don't want a higher sound level in my video, as it is adequate and comparable to other YouTube videos. I'd have to replace back the unamplified file after syncing, and all that bother because VP won't let me zoom in and insists on keeping the audio windows very low (when there are more than one, that is, with only one the visibility is good).
  14. Thanks for your replies ! I use VP Professional v 10.24 64bit. Not quite the latest, but I did not want to have to pay for a new license yet again (you may remember that from a recent thread). But I had the same with all my earlier versions too. My sound tracks come from my smartphone camera (Cinema FV-5 Lite) and from my digital Kawai CA59 piano (directly to USB). My wave editor (not WavePad, sorry) has no problem showing the audio loud and clear (but of course I can zoom in here, unlike in VP), the gain is just enough so as not to clip. So I'm not sure if I should increase the gain just for the sake of visibility in VP. I'll share one of the audio files.
  15. Thanks for your reply, funny you could not open the image, while Borate could apparently. Ah well. Yes I zoom in a lot but when the amplitude is so low this only makes things worse. Previewing could be useful, I'll see if that helps me a bit.
  16. Hi All, One major issue I have with VideoPad is that wave forms are rendered so tiny. When I need to sync the video with my external audio recording I need to see the wave forms loud and clear, but it does not seem possible to make them any bigger on the screen. If I maximize the bottom pane (as far as it will allow, anyway...) only the drop areas get bigger, not the wave forms. Especially at low volumes, this makes it impossible to see where it begins. Here's a link to a screenshot I hope will explain my problem. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Am3hcPuh7NatgbhQ_RI-wzDgOIl4bw?e=LT2ZTH Thanks for any ideas ! Chris
  17. That was really helpful. I was unaware of that particular policy. Now I'm running a licensed 64-bit version 😊 Exporting a video doesn't seem to be much quicker than before, but it does use significantly less CPU now. Thanks again for your quick help !
  18. Thanks for the quick reply, but I neither want to do things differently or use a free version. So I've reverted back to the 32-bit version for which I had recently bought the license code. I still find it strange that a license is tied to a specific version and you cannot upgrade without having to pay again.
  19. Many thanks, Borate. I had previously looked for a 64-bit installation and not found it, which is why I posted the question. Unfortunately this new version refuses to export a video unless I pay for a new registration code, whereas I just bought one last February ! This is no joy đŸ˜¯
  20. Hi all, I can't seem to find out whether or not there is a native 64-bit version of VideoPad. Of course the 32-bit version works on my 64-bit Windows, but it will use at most 4Gb memory, making it slower than it should be (I think) if it could use the full 16Gb of available RAM. Thanks, Chris
  21. Yes, by sufficiently expanding the timeline it can be done without shift. Not a big deal now that I know about it, so I can live with that. From what you write it seems a bit of a sensitive area so I'm not sure sure if submitting a bug is worth it. You never know what side effects a bugfix could have ... better the devil you know 🙂 Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
  22. Yes there is a need to use <shift>, as the video must be *exactly* aligned with the externally recorded audio. Without <shift> it takes much longer, and trial and error, to get it right. It amazes me that you say using <shift> can cause unpredictable results. I've used it intensively (as per the documentation) for many years without any issues whatsoever, and now find it's broken in the latest versions. Surely this is still a supported functionality ? If so, it is a bug plain and clear. Can I log a ticket with NCH to get this fixed ?
  23. Thanks for all the tips, and for editing my post to include the updates which seems good practice. I did include links to the images on my OneDrive. Still don't see how you got an inline image in your post. Yes I did test with release, as I wrote. The problem persists. Reverting back to an old version is tempting, but I'd rather not have to do that. Especially as I paid for the 64-bit upgrade. On the plus, I seem to have found out when this happens : it's after I have done one or more resizes with the shift-key (which is my habit). Since starting with a new project and leaving the shift key alone, the problem hasn't manifested. It's a bit inconvenient, but not a huge problem anymore. Fingers crossed though. If you're interested I can backup and share a project with just two small video files, and instructions how to reproduce the problem.
  24. Thanks for looking into it Borate 👍 But I'm not surprised you cannot replicate it.... It seems to happen to me quite randomly, after editing for a while. I already tried massively zooming in on the timeline (using the mouse wheel) but it did not help. Nor did saving the project and restarting VP. Just I downloaded the current version (10.17, right ?) but the problem persists. Unless I find another way to resize the clip this is a showstopper for me, preventing me from completing my video. BTW You included an inline image ! How does that work ? I could not find the option. -0-0- Update ! I got the bracket icon back by zooming OUT the timeline ! Isn't that strange !! It now turns out the disappearing act happens when zooming IN on (i.e. expanding) the timeline. While this might just save the day for me it is hugely inconvenient, because to properly align video and external audio, I need to zoom out quite a lot otherwise it becomes a hit-and-miss exercise. -0-0- Update again.... alas it's not as simple as that. It also happens (sometimes) as a result of resizing a clip, without the timeline being zoomed in or out. I'm starting to have doubts about being able to complete my video, and am also starting to regret shelling out money for the upgrade to 64-bits 10.x, only to encounter issues where my 32-bits 4.x version worked without any issues.
  25. Hi all, Just hit upon a problem that is stopping me dead in my tracks ☚ī¸ This is in my second project with VideoPad v10.12 64-bit, I never had this problem in my first project, or in any project using earlier versions. When I hover on the edge of a clip, a resize cursor appears (square bracket between two arrows) and I can drag the edge to resize the clip. But every now and then, for no reason I can think of, the resize cursor does not appear (anymore, it might have done previously) on the right edge of the clip, so I'm unable to resize it on that end. Instead when I hover, it shows the balloon with the clip info. The clip edges look totally normal at that position. Following images should clarify (inline images don't seem possible here ?) Ok, resize cursor appears Problem, resize cursor does not show I did not find another way to resize the clip. Any ideas would be most welcome. TIA, Chris
