Hi there,
An m3u file is a playlist - simply a set of links to tracks. SoundTap is not capable of producing m3u files - it can only record to wave and mp3.
Also, you would probably benefit by upgrading to version 1.23 of SoundTap. The upgrad is free if you purchased SoundTap in the last 3 months.

BW

Check your skype settings. Your audio in and audio out device should both be set to Uplink.

Do you get any messages in the SoundTap window?

Hi Jim,
There are a couple of things that may have gone wrong. If you were recording to mp3 then you may be missing the mp3 codec. You can download it for free from http://www.nch.com.au/components - you need the one titled Mp3El.
Also make sure you have write permissions on the directory to which you are trying to record.

OK guys what did I do wrong????????? I've always considered myself "reasonably" smart (which I realize is a relative term!!!) but this blows me away!
I purchased SoundTap 1.1 tonight. I even read the instructions. I also set up a download folder on my desktop called Radio downloads (original title there!). I found the pgm I wanted to d/l (a bbc4 show called McLevy). I hit the "start recording" button and it said that it was recording. After 45 mins the show was thru and I hit the "stop recording" button. I looked forward to hearing the show again and then burning it to a cd. Guess what? Nowhere was the show to be found. There was no show ... zilch, nada, niente. So what did I do wrong? Other that trying to record a bbc4 murder mystery?
ANY help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Phillip, CollinB(and all others with this problem),
Please download and install the mp3 encoder - MP3El - from http://www.nch.com.au/components/
This should fix your problem.

I've just got the registered version of soundtap 1.1 , and I can record in .wav format , but if I choose mp3, the application appears to be recording but doesn't create a file ? Any ideas , or does it not work in this version ?
thanks
SoundTap does correctly record mp3 files. Have you tried doing a search for the file on your harddrive after recording has finished? Have you changed the recording directory from the default?

If you record a lot of internet radio then you may want to consider SoundTap which records the stream digitally for a perfect reproduction and no quality loss.

Those settings are correct - no obvious reason why you are not getting audio. What softphone are you using to call out through skype?
