  1. Single channel being recorded through a telephone adapter from the phone line into the microphone input on a sound card.  During playback the message is rerecorded when the 'stop recording during playback' option is not selected.  If it is selected, this disappears but I think it may be a bug.  VRS will record anything played through Media Player also.

    Thanks,

Check your record mixer settings. You probably have the wav out turned up on the record mixer. If you turn it down or mute it it should solve the problem.

  2. If I try to rip a full album (say 18 tunes) at once, Express Rip gets most of the way through it and then crashes my computer. Most of the time I can get by with doing just a few songs at a time, but even then it will sometimes let me almost do four songs, and then down she goes again. Not nice. :(  Has anyone else had this problem - is there a solution?

I can only suppose there is some quirk with the CD Driver. What version Windows are you using? What CD drive do you have?

  3. Generally the typepad on Express Scribe is not meant to replace your word processor. The only reason why we include it is that sometimes you want more control over playback than you can get with hot keys or a pedal. In those particular cases you can use the typepad but ultimately you need to copy the text out.

  4. It is loaded correctly but they tell me no transcribing equipment will play files burned in "audio".

    No that is nonsense.

Download the latest version of Express Scribe from the real Express Scribe site (www.nch.com.au/scribe). After you have installed it use the menu option File->Load Audio CD Track. That should do it.

  5. I'm a registered user currently using 2.31. If I download 2.41, will it install correctly over 2.31 & maintain my current licensing information?

You should have received an email advising if your license was valid when version 2.40 was released.

If you cannot find it I suggest you take a complete backup of your IVM Program Files Folder attempt to upgrade. It will prompt you with a warning if your license does not apply to v 2.41.

  6. Could somebody please confirm that the demo version does not have any adware or anything like it ?

No IVM most certainly does not contain any adware.

  7. I have a lot of telephone conversations recorded with VRS and need to know the best way to review them at higher speed so that it doesn't take the same length of time to review them as the original conversation took.  I don't have that much time!  I also need to extract sections of the telephone conversations to individual sound files quickly.

At the moment VRS does not support this. But I have noted it as a very good suggestion for the next version.

Please keep an eye out for it.

  8. I have used Express Scribe with DSS files from a Philips 9350 recorder. Occasionally when I load files the duration turns up as 00:00 and they will not play.

With version 4.01 we have made a few more tweeks to the dss loading process. Give the latest version a spin and download. Hopefully your loading problem will go away.

  9. Upon install of ES the defulat location was the C: drive. I was loading several audio files and ran out of room on my c: drive. How can I create an alternate directory on my d: drive? :(

If you are game you can change the Registry Key in

HKLM\Software\NCH Swift Sound\Scribe\Folders then restart Express Scribe.

  10. I wanted to find out if the new version of Express Scribe supports the DCT user numbers...

With the the dictation software end - Express Dictate from version 4.00 and later (current version is 4.01) you can specify the file names as you want and include a number of different field including the sender ID in the files names.

Of course you never see the actual file names when you open the files in Express Scribe - but in Express Scribe you see the Sender Name anyway.

By the way you should look at the Express Delegate Dictation Management Software for more.
