  1. You will see there is a menu option for "Send High Priority". This marks the dct file as for high priority. When you open the dc file with scribe it will show the higher priority.

Priorities only work on dct files because wav files cannot carry extra information.

  2. We actually use engin for most of our Australian VoIP DialDictatate testing so yes it does work.

The proxy we use is byo.engin.com.au.

I agree Engin support are a bit hopeless when it comes to anything but their own hardware though!

  3. OK, forgive my total ignorance on this.  I want to record calls on my Mac (OSX), I have Vonage internet phone and a cordless phone.  It looks like the phone to computer connector I need is this one, because I'm using Vonage.  Right?  My question is, it says it connects to the handset, so will this work on a cordless phone?  I just want to make sure before I spend $50.  Thank you in advance.

For cordless phone and Vonage adapter plus you need the TRx plus the line connector (not the handset connector).

  4. One of my customer is recording on a remote desktop.  When he connects to his station through Remote Desktop connection, it detects the local soundcard so he cannot run the software properly.

Check the Run As Service options. Make sure you have selected Run As Service - show no users. That means the remote connection will not access the recording.

  5. Why does the VRS record a very short 2 second call every thirty minutes?  I did notice that the software defaults to deleting all call less than the dafault 5 sec call which works fine and removes them.

This is probably some electronics on your phone line causing 'noise' which triggers VRS recording.

    Simply use the auto-delete feature.

  6. I am trying to get the script function to work. But It seems not to work. I've got V. 4.00

Try with version 4.02. If the problem persists, post your log file from the time the script was meant to run.

  7. Greetings

I have the system VRS 3.1 working with a card Dialogic 4DPCI.

However the VRS doesn't pull up me in way of service after restarting the team

in the VRS receipt the error: Error: Sound record device open failed!

After this I close the application I return her to open up and everything works well

I have configured for VRS it is loaded as service.

Try upgrading to version 4.02. It has a number of Service options.

Otherwise there might be a problem with your card. You might try one of these Professional Telephony Boards.

  8. Incoming call is almost mute, can here my voice fine. Auto gain is on, using RS controller 43-2208, built in card C-Media AC97 wave device, XP.

    Phil

Phil, this is really an adapter issue. Is there an in-out selector on the device? If so try it? If it is a handset connector you might have a non-standard handset?

In worst case, check out the Call Recording Hardware page for higher quality adapter options.

  9. Version 4.02 of the VRS has just been released.

It can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.audiochannel.net/software/vrs.zip".

    New features include:

~ Ability to search dates in find and play.

~ Ability to play "Recording Started" prompt and recording tones

~ Added recording 'data' to email

~ Ability to edit recording data

~ index.html files are created on folder and ftp uploads

~ vrd files can be sent to folder or uploaded (as an option)

~ VRS Web Control Panel (access recordings via the network / internet)

~ CD burn from find and play

~ Quick file format convert with Switch on Find and Play

~ Improved DTMF detection with optional DTMF settings

~ Improved CPU usage when mp3 encoding

~ Fixed bug with temp files not being deleted

The demo is free of course. If you have purchased and have ID 14500 or higher upgrade is free. For earlier purchases you may need to purchase and upgrade at upgrade pricing see www.nch.com.au/upgrade.

  10. I got the Radio Shack adapter and while my voice was always louder on the recording, recently it got so low it is hard to understand.

Is there a setting to adjust?

There is an automatic gain control setting on the VRS settings. Please make sure that is turned on.

  11. After I installed Switch my daily scan with Webroot Spysweeper showed a Switch dialer as spyware.  I have noticed that when I use Switch it tries to call out.  What is going on?

    No, Switch is not Spyware!

Make sure you download it from the official Switch Sound File Format Converter site though.

What is probably happening is you are attempting to convert a file which requires an install a demand components. When it attempts to download this component it your (stupid) spysweeper things it must be spyware.

After you first convert a file of a particular type it will not connect again because the converter component will be installed.

  12. Nobody with a suggestion?  I've tried just about everything I can think of or find and I can't come up with anything.  Thanks!

Chris, Can you please post your IVM logs after a failed call. The logs often give a very good clue as to what the problem could be.

  13. Can anyone tell me if this software can create a conditional conference call?  I want the computer to:

This would be difficult, but perhaps you could do it with the confirmed transfer system. Have a look at the confirmed transfer documentation.

Alternatively, you can setup a manual system to use the dial command to manually dial the digits to effect a transfer and then play menus etc.

ie. You can do it but you need to be a bit creative.

  14. how can i record multiple station on the same vrs?

I have the same signal in two channels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <_<  <_<

Two record 2 channels on one stereo card you need a stereo splitter Y cable. Ask at your local electronics store.

    Otherwise use a multichannel card.

  15. My question is what are .vrd files? The software writes them to the folder it's recording into. Are they necessary to keep or can they be deleted?

They are internal data files. Just ignore them.

  16. I have Vonage VoIP telephone service and there is constant clicking (tiny little short ticks) on the line.  These seem to have just started with a software upgrade they did to my router/phone adapter.  I can't get them to change it back, so hopefully there's a way to filter out these little clicks that keep the recorder going way more than it needs to.  I get hundreds of files a day.  I'm happy to send one to you as an example.

    Does increasing the threshold help?

  17. I would like the ability for a reporter to call a computer remotely from a News Scene -- have the software record the conversation and then upload it to a streming server where an editor could then link to the .mp3 file for playback on our web site.

I think you should look at the <a href="http://www.nch.com.au/ivm/index.html">IVM Answering Attendant IVR Software</a>. It is probably more what you are looking for.

  18. Can an adapter made from running a cable from a RJ11 jack directly to a 3.5mm stereo or mono plug?

I am not an electronics expert but I don't think so. It keeps the line off hook. There is a large DC component on the line.

Any electroheads want to comment on this...
