bsidey
We have been using v4.19 on a terminal server (Win 2003 Server R2) for ages with no problems. We upgraded this week to v4.22. Now only the system administrator profile can load files in Scribe. Regular users can start Scribe and see the audio files in the directory but they will not load. So we tried dropping back to v4.19 by uninstalling and deleting everything that said NCH in the registry. Then loaded essetup from our backup tape. Ran the install and 4.19 comes up fine but still has the same problem - only system admin profile can load files in Scribe.
bsidey
OK the problem is in the Files path in Settings. The default path is only accessible by the sysadmin. Setting a new path for each user fixed it. Unfortunately all the uninstalling/re-installing seems to have killed our ability to play dss files now. Have to use Switch to convert to wav. keywest
I'm just starting to look into whether express scribe might work in a terminal services environment. You're the only person that I've found a posting from here that reports that it does work. Are you using footpedals? That seems to be the problem for some. I'd suggest going to the NCH component page and downloading the dss codecs. That should then fix your problem and you shouldn't have to use switch as a band-aid anymore. I hacked an old keyboard that I had and re-wired the footpedals to emulate pressing the F7, F9 and F4 keys.

keywest
I see...thanks for your input on this. I wonder if the improved usb support that windows 2008 is supposed to have would make a difference? I may set up a test server to experiment with this.
