Cisco Call Manager 5.x can't transfer calls

Hi,

 

Been using Express Talk Basic a while now. We are trialling Business Edition and can't seem to get it to Transfer call with the Cisco PBX. Any ideas? DTMF tone dialling or special setup. Quality is great, recording with VRS will be great, but the basic feature of TRANSFER need to work. We are trialling this for our Call Center.

Any ideas?

I don't know much about the Cisco Call Manager / PBX. But I do know that some PBX systems (e.g. Asterisk/FreePBX) have "Feature Code" settings which let you specify DTMF tones that will automatically trigger a feature such as call transfer or call recording. This means that even if the SIP phone, soft phone, or ATA adaptor couldn't initiate a transfer using its built-in feature, by dialling a feature code (e.g. ##) in call, the PBX will automatically set-up a call transfer.

 

I have no idea if and how that would work with Cisco Call Manager though.

Hi.

 

We have tried using SJPhone which does accept its transfer button with Cisco without any problems. We think Express Talk BE is a far better product due to recording and other stuff. Can anyone help? There are no features that are INLINE DTMF that can be used for the time being..it is actually a SIP message for transfer..other softphones are compatible? any ideas anyone?

It seems strange to me that SJPhone's transfer feature works and not Express Talk's... they should both be sending the same SIP transfer request. When you turn the log/status window in Express Talk on, does it indicate it is initiating a transfer?

 

Also, are you sure you are using the Transfer feature correctly?

 

I believe the procedure is as follows:

1) When a call is in progress, press the transfer button

2) Type in or select a number from the drop-down list to transfer to

3) Click Dial

 

When the call has been answered....

 

4) Click the Transfer arrow (beside the Dial button) to finalize the transfer

 

The last step is not that clear and is easily skipped over. I suggest you try again using the 4 steps above and see if you can get it working this time.

Hi,

 

Using ET BE 3.08 .. downloaded just now.

 

1) Configured 2 extension on Call Manager. One basic (1 Line) and Advanced (4 Line).

2) 1 Line can't transfer because busy soooo....

3) Tried Multiple SIP (Advanced).

 

The steps are:

 

Call ext. (1320 example) from ext. 1003:

Answer can talk blah blah

Hit transfer on 1320 - Dial 1207...they answer they can hear me. Hit Tranfer arrow...1003 hears nothing and 1207 as well...1320 (BE 3.08) flashes 2 line off an on.

 

Did same test with SJPhone as example:

 

With Basic SIP can transfer calls...no problem...

 

Help !?!

Tried SJPHone and Zoiper without ANY transfer problems and changes on server. There is definetly something going on with Express Talk...PLEASE HELP. We really like the voice recording capability and other products...can you help us please?

You can also try to contact CISCO about the problem, they at least may have some suggestions or may be able to identify what exactly is causing the problem.

 

Lastly, you can kindly PM nchaj (software support manager), who will likely pass on the details of the problem directly to the program developers so they can fix the problem in the next upcoming release.

hi,

yes, same problem is with my system. nothing can to do. it's not transferring. both lines disconnecting. support nothing talking. do not know what to do. I have few voip servers, and cisco gateways. all works well with Axon. Eyebeam x-ten also works well with axon (transfering calls), but express talk not works with Axon using same feature.

Hi,

I have a solution!!

Transfer has been completed. The reason why we can't make it is that express talk is 6 line and all lines had same extension number. For to transfer calls, you have to configure next (2-nd) line with different extension number: if 1-st line is extension 103, 2-nd should be 104 or something other. Then call transfer starting to work.

Free lines works itself, but for to complete transfer need another extension number for next free line. I think this should be recorded in help file as well.

I really don't understand what you are saying. I will not set up another extension for anotehr line...that is just a workaround, basic transfer should work. SIP log files are posted in this topic for the messages asking for log files.

 

Cisco Call Manager has 2 SIP licenses: Basic (3 lics.) only one line, and Extended (5 lics.) multiple lines. I will not waste licenses just to get transfer working. How come other clients do it flawlessly? SJPhone doesn't do assisted transfer, only blind(only one line BTW), and other do it with ONE line one Extension. Simple SIP processing....I just want to make sure everyone understands. SIP control messages should hold RTP to one line while tranfer to the other, do not know why it does not work. Please post something in help that really addresses the issue, not workarounds that cost licencing on big servers.

 

SIP logs are enough to see what is happening....any ideas?
