no microsoft pcm?

Hello, Folks:

I just used Switch to convert some .flac files to .wav. The conversion was fine. I tried burning them to CD with Express Burn, and I get the message "you dont have the microsoft pcm format codec". Express Burn will still accept .mp3 files; just not .wav. However, I can open the same .wav files in WavePad just fine.

I also tried opening these .wav files in Windows Media Player 11 (on a 32-bit Vista system), only to find that the media player will not open at all. Hmmmm. I was able to "open as administrato, (which I've never had to do before), but it does not recognize the .wav files I try to drop into it. To "solve"this, I looked for an updated codec pack for Vista. I had an old version, and I don't know how to check if i have properly removed it. I can no longer tell if this is at the root of the problem, or if I added a second problem.

Now I am truly confused and wondering: a) how will I get windows media player to work again, and B) how do i get express burn to burn .wav files again?

Any help appreciated.
