Problem doing a screen capture of AcornTV with Debut

I have started having a problem recording a TV series from AcornTV using my Debut software.  I thought it might be because I didn't have the latest software so I updated Debut to v10.11 (latest) but it still doesn't work.

I can see the program playing on my computer just fine but when I start Debut and try to record it, all I get is a black screen with audio.

I know I'm doing it right because I can start a program on any other streaming service (such as Netflix) and it works just fine.  The only service that is a problem is AcornTV.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there a work-around.  I'm in the USA if that makes a difference.

Please note that this might be because of the DRM protection. Most streaming services have DRM protection on their content, meaning that video capture programs like Debut won't be able to capture it. Debut won't override DRM protection as that implies copyright infringement.

If so, I'm very surprised.  I have used Debut screen capture many places, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and even directly from the BBC web site using their iplayer (I have an account) and this is the first time I have ever ran into this.  How would AcornTV even know that I was using Debut screen capture?  Is it the Debut software itself that is stopping me from recording AcornTV?  I'm surprised that they wouldn't stop me everywhere if that was the case.  But what good would having Debut software even do then?  Capturing programs to view later is really the only thing I use Debut Screen Capture for.

Hi,

Digital Rights Management, or DRM, is a class of technologies that allow rights owners to set and enforce terms by which people use their intellectual property.

Rights owners are typically copyright-holding companies like music, film, book or software publishers. They use DRM to control how documents, entire software programs, or even e-mails are used.

NCH Software does not support tampering with DRM Protected Files.

Tampering with such files is illegal.

I understand the whole DRM concept but I don't considering making a copy of streamed material as 'tampering'.  I'm merely making a copy to watch at my leisure.  I don't sell, post or give away a copy that I make.  DRM is very heavy on DVDs too, but I can copy them if I want to and do from time to time.

I still think this issue with Debut software is a unique case that I have never ran into before and I'm just trying to understand what is happening and why it is only an issue with AcornTV.

Mostly, I'm just trying to find out if others are having the same problem and if there is a workaround that I could try.
