Editing Text

I just opened a video I haven't worked on in a long time. I'm trying to change the text and there are no white lines in the Video Track 2 section where the text is embedded. Any suggestions?

By "white lines" do you mean that there are no text clips showing on track 2?

Is track 2 collapsed, like this?   image.png  Double click on it and the text editor will appear.

Let's see a link to a screen grab.  To do that please follow the upload instructions in the Get Help sticky post at the top of this forum.

What version of Videopad is being used?  Expanding takes but a single-click on the caret at the left... image.png

Give the latest release a try.  It will be a full-featured trial for a short while if not registered.  To share a screenshot or file...

Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, right-click the link and Share.  Copy the result and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum.  When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view.

I tried the new version and the problem's the same. I can see the text editor line in the Video Track 2 section when I add text but not for the writing that's already there. This seems very simple.😕

Still not certain of what you are seeing.  Provide a screen shot if possible, as above.  Be sure that the background color chosen in the text editor is not the same as the text color, or text won't be seen (unless selected).

When composing text, the clip appears in the bin (top-left) and on the timeline (or drag it there).  Position as needed.

If you plan to compose additional text, don't drag the existing clip from the bin to the timeline and attempt to change the content.  That will alter the original.

Instead. right-click on the clip in the bin and <ctrl-C> to COPY.  Then right-click on open area of the bin and click PASTE (Clip/s)

Do this as many times as needed.  Then drag individual copied clips onto the timeline and change their text.  Leave the master clip as it is.
