Unable to edit text clip in 16.04

I recently upgraded from 4.x to 16.04 and I'm struggeling with editing a text clip in the new version.

Once the clip is on the timeline, all attempts to edit it seem to only affect the clip in the library, but not the clip that's already on the timeline.

The only way I found to remove the clip from the timeline and re-add it. However this is an enormous waste of time when you try to align text with the background and need dozens of attempts to get it right.

I am double clicking the clip on my timeline (Video Track), the text window opens, I change the text and move the position of the text clip in the preview window but none of these changes are applied to the clip that i double-clicked.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to apply the changes to the clip that's on the timeline? (Which IMO should be done automatically when I open the editor via the clip on the timeline)

Many thanks in advance!

Install this release and report back.  If that solves the issue, use that version for now.  A newer release will be available shortly, but there's no mandate to update if things are working well.

For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.  If there's an issue, you can always revert.

When using a master text clip (in the bin) to make multiple changes, duplicate it as many times as needed.  Right-click on the clip and COPY.
Then right-click in an open area of the bin and PASTE Clip.  Dupes will have incremented #s, such as (1), (2), and can be renamed via a right-click.

Drop a dupe to the timeline and make text changes. which will also affect the bin clip.  Leave the master as is.

Thanks!

This version (16.02) works, although it is older than the 16.04 that I had installed previously.

I also had to edit the .vpj file and change the version from 13 to 12 in order to be able to load my project with this version. There was a warning that it may be corrupted, but it loaded just fine and allowed me to edit the text.

Just to clarify, I don't need multiple versions of the text clip with different edits. I only need a single text clip, but I have to play around with its location until it lines up with the video in the background. That was not possible with 16.04. There is only 1 Text clip in the bin (none with (1) and so on) and that clip is also on timeline. But any edits (when double-clicked the one on the timeline) only affected the clip in the bin and not the one on the timeline.
