sound quality is poor

I finally got it to record sound but it is partially garbled which makes it hard to listen to. I think I have everything set right

Select avi as the file type, then click the encoder options button. Select H264(native) for the video and mp3(native) for the audio. Now click the video compression settings button and set the quality to 28. This will give a clear recording.

Where do I select file type?

When you open the program in the low left part of the window you will see the option "Record Screen as". From the drop-down menu, you can select the file format.

Thanks. I was able to set the File type to avi. The encoder options were already H264 and MP3. I couldn't find where to set the Video Comp. 

I made a recording. The sound is better. There is a larger latency in the video.

The dropdown menu of compression settings does not have "28". Has it changed from an update or am I at the wrong place? Below is the screenshot:

Regarding video default quality vs high quality (larger filesize), is it worth it to use high quality?
