Trouble Opening Audio Files - WavePad Hangs on Loading

I've been using WavePad Sound Editor for a while now I've recently encountered an issue that Whenever I try to open an audio file, WavePad just hangs indefinitely on the loading screen. I've tried this with different file formats and sizes, but the problem seems to persist. I've also updated the software Nexus Iceland Portal App to the latest version, thinking it might fix the issue, but unfortunately, that didn't help either. I'd really appreciate any suggestions or solutions you might have. I had to re-install the older version WavePad 17.42 32-bit and it works.  I'm also waiting on an answer as I would prefer to upgrade to the latest version.
