Clip Freezes in Preview & Final Export

I'm in the process of making a video. When I play it in the preview box, every time it gets to this one particular cip, it freezes on the image (first second) of the clip. The audio still plays, the clip won't play, and then the next clips won't play, either. When I select that particular clip itself and hit play, it does play. But after I export it as a video, when I play the video, again it freezes on the image/first frame of that clip, and remains there for the rest of the video, while the audio continues to play normally. I cannot figure out how to fix this so that it plays normally.

I'm using Windows 10, 64-bit.

Does anyone have any suggestions/advice?

Thank you.

What version of Videopad is being used?  Look at the bottom-left corner of the window.

Install the current release.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

Report back on whether that helped.

I just purchased the software and downloaded the latest version but I am having the same issue. The video is stuck on one clip but the audio plays correctly. This is not a good first impression of this software when all I am trying to do is combine a couple of MP4 videos.

What's the version #?  Look at the bottom-left of the VP window.  What are the PC's specs:  CPU/GPU/RAM?

If you take a few minutes to share the project, someone will analyze it and find a fix.  That's the best way to track down problems.

The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

By playing around with the clips, I found out that the first clip plays normally as long as it does not touch the clips next to it end-to-end on the track/timeline. But then the following clips, even if I move them apart, are all black on the preview screen.

If I press "play" while the next clip is selected, then all the following clips play normally. But I if I start "play" from the beginning of the video, it either gets frozen on that first particular clip that originally had the issue, or the screen is all black on the following clips.

I don't know what is causing that to happen, but that appears to be the problem.

Same Issue. And with only 1 export allowed on demo version this is a terrible first impression. I like the program but my end result after hours of editing leaves a bad taste in my mouth and leaves me hesitant to purchase.

Using v 13.51

[UPDATE]

I suspect it has to do with "Building the preview" message that can occur while previewing the sequence. I managed to avoid it at one place in particular by removing the "blur" effect between clips. I hope this helps!

Install this release and see if it does better for you.

If mp4 export isn't available after the trial period try AVI.

Share the project, complete with blur, and someone will check it out.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...
