Guest bobhandl
I have just downloaded Switch for trial purposes and I want to convert some .kar format files to either wav or mp3. I am told that I cannot convert these files probably because I do not have the right codec. Can you explain further. I am running Windows XP Home. nchtj
We don't explicitly support .kar files. If you open Switch and click the "Add" button, the dialog that opens up tells you what formats Switch explicitly supports (see the "Files of type" list near the bottom of that window). We let people load formats we don't explicitly support and simply pass those formats onto the Windows decoder, in the off chance that Windows can handle the format. It's never guaranteed though. Rockstar
*.kar files aren't audio files they are the same as MIDI files and are data files that are interpreted by audio tone generators and synths to produce an audio output. Rockstar
nchtj
the midi format will be supported in the next switch, if kar is exactly the same you will be able to change the file extension to .mid and have it work. if kar is a bit different then it won't work.
