Why do I need to pay again?

I bought Video-Editor from NCSoft some years ago.

Now I tried to update my version and it forced me to buy again because my version was "too old".

I never agreed to this, when I first bought video-pad editor I was told:

Versions of VideoPad are available for Mac, Windows, Amazon Kindle, iOS, and Android. So, teams can be productive regardless of whether they work remotely, on the road, or in the office. Pricing for the app comes in the form of either a one-time fee per user license, or an ongoing quarterly per-user subscription.

 

I feel grifted.

The license for Videopad is a one-time fee (or a monthly fee), that's correct. However, the license is valid only for the version you purchased and for all versions up to 6 months after the purchase (see here: https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/versions.html ).
