aac to m4a fails with cryptic message

When I run switch to convert an aac file to an m4a file I get a cryptic message that the conversion failed and to check the forums. I installed aacenc and aacdec and it still happens?

What's the deal with the useless error messages?

if you're trying to convert an iTunes aac file you're out of luck, Apple copy protect those files.

Thanks for your help. These are aac files that have been ripped from the winamp plugin called streamripper. These are aac files in the clear and nothing protected. I just want them to be used in itunes without converting them to wav and then back to m4a (in itunes).

Thanks, your sample file works. The site is streaming aac+ I guess that is not supported.

I have found other software that will convert it to wav anyway.
