Issues with interface Scarlett2i4 connection

I carefully accomplished (I suppose) all the preliminary steps for a correct audio connection of Mixpad with Scarlett2i4, using McOS Sierra 10.12.6.

The result was as follows:

Input channel 1 is active on both tracks 1 and 2, despite they are connected to channel 1 and 2 respectively. Input channel 2 is inactive on both tracks.

I have checked that the issue is not due to a hardware problem: I connected Scarlett2i4 to an old version of Garage Band, just single track recording. However,

if channel 1 was connected to track 1, it was active on track 1 only. The same with channel 2 and track 2.

Can somebody help me?
