borate
The 'white' hints that the program isn't responding. This could be a PC issue. Did you confirm that the video driver and Direct-X are current? What format are the files being loaded when it freezes or crashes? What are your PC's specs: GPU/CPU/RAM/free disk space?

borate
Looks to be a capable system. Perform a RAM Memory test. Prior to loading a new project, go to OPTIONS | DISC tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. This can be done during editing as well. In the same window, the cache can also be pointed to another drive - preferably an SSD. There's no obvious reason for your issues. Try a reinstall. SC Steve
I had similar issues of freezing and crashing but for me those issues are gone since changing the program to use my graphics to edit. (Options->editing->video processor->change drop down to graphics). In the most recent releases this setting is under Options | Advanced tab. borate
Give the current release a try. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
