Isaiah6113
Greetings, When WavePad edits an MP3 does it decompress to another file type, allow for editing, then recompress back to MP3? (Behind the scenes.) Or does it do all its editing "inside" the MP3 itself. Thank you, M.
nchtj
it has to decompress it to a PCM wave file, you can't edit compressed audio, its not technically feasible. so yes, the answer to your other question is (I read minds :-)) that there is some quality loss when re-saving as mp3. if you are very fussy then only save to uncompressed PCM wave while working on your file, and when you are ready to master the final production, only *then* should you save to mp3 format. Guest nchto
PCM is a type of encoding of a .wav file. When you select the .wav option to save as, a "Select Wave File Format" window will appear which will allow you to select the PCM format.
